Up for your consideration is an original oil painting by Karl Gasslander of a surrealistic scene. Gasslander (1905 – 1997) is a well-listed and collected artist. This piece features a surreal interior with a woman and a mirror. It measures about 24″ x 18″, and the outer dimensions of the frame are 27″ x 21″. The painting is in excellent condition. There is a small 1/8 inpaint near the left bottom the the lady’s neck. Otherwise, the piece is free of chipping, cracklature, flaking, and the colors are vibrant. The is unexamined out of the frame and the age is unknown, as it is obscured by the framing materials. Karl Gasslander – A painter, teacher, and writer, Karl Gasslander, was born in Rockford, Illinois, and was the art critic for the Evanston Daily News, and taught at the Evanston Collegiate Institute. He attended the Art Students League in New York, and in Illinois the Art Institute of Chicago and the Northwestern University School of Art.
