Original Irish Art Oil On Canvas Painting Donegal, Ireland By A Rangast
This is a lovely piece of Original Irish Art, an Oil On Canvas Painting of Bloody Foreland, County Donegal, Ireland, by the artist A Rangast, who has signed it to the bottom left and added further details on the rear, please see photos. Bloody Foreland or Cnoc Fola (The Hill of Blood) derives its name from the evening sun which illuminates the rocks along this section of the Co. Donegal coast to a rich red hue. In the autumn months a thick covering of fern enflames the hillside with a russet-red-brown colouring. Bloody Foreland has no background in factual history to warrant the title bloody, although folklore records that one particularly unlikable warlord Balor of the Evil Eye was eventually slain by his grandson Lugh Lámh Fhada on the slopes of Cnoc Fola. Indeed, some say that the tide of blood which flowed from Balors evil eye stained the hillside and gave it its name. It is situated in the north-west corner of county Donegal where Irish is still the dominating language. This super painting has been mounted in a bronze / gold coloured wooden frame and is ready to hang and enjoy, displaying beautifully. It measures 53 cm x 43 cm including the frame and looks fabulous, a super piece of original Irish Art.
