EXCEPTIONAL Original/Signed Joseph Fruhmesser (1928-1995) Oil on Canvas/Framed
Born in Linz, Austria, his father was a civil engineer and traveled. About Austria and Bavaria a great deal, on various. Assignments, during Joseph’s childhood… Fruhmesser grew to love the scenery and mountains of Bavaria and his native Austria, and begin to sketch at every opportunity. After the Austrian Anschluss, he served in the Army; then after World War II, he moved to Munich where he made it his home. He married & set up a studio where he begin to paint. He was a self taught artist who’s paintings where popular in his lifetime & were his occupation. Framed oil on canvas painting, it is signed and is a beautiful study of a scenic mountain river view, it is in good condition for its age (frame a little tired with minor taps), it measures framed: 30″ by 26.5″… Big and wonderfully composed… Looks like a bit of the forest came home to live… Really there is fine work, approaching majestic? RARE & EXCEPTIONAL Art Deco Original Oil On Canvas Framed Water Bird Painting
The picture is of a flamboyantly colored water bird of some type with lush rose and pink feathers with a white water lily in the foreground. The colors are exceptional! I do not see a signature anywhere on the painting. It is in excellent condition. The paper backing probably crumbled and fell off quite some time ago. I have a pair of these originals, but listed separately. Would love to keep them together. This fabulous painting does have glass over the top. Measuring 20″ from top to bottom and 16″ from side to side. The frame has almost a acanthus type design and is cream with raised decoration. Exceptional Original Primitive Folk Art Portrait Oil On Canvas Painting
Truly Exceptional, Antique, American, Primitive Folk Art Portrait Painting. I believe they call this style of folk art painting “grotesque” as some of her features are exaggerated. She may have been a seamstress (see thimble on hand). Oil on canvas painting. I would date the painting to the early-mid 1800’s. Framed the painting measures 19″ by 15″, unframed: 15 3/4″ by 12″. Excellent-very good antique condition. One tiny dimple (mid-left) that does not penetrate canvas (please see images).
