Oil Painting by Edward Loyal Field (E. L. Field) Before the Storm
Field (1856 – 1914) is best known for his etchings, but he did this oil painting and did a rather good job of it. Edward Loyal Field was a late-nineteenth century landscape etcher and painter. Born in 1856, he studied art in Paris, France, under Carolus-Duran, returning to the United States in 1882. He lived and worked in Manhattan for the balance of his career. A full member of New York’s prestigious Salmagundi Club, Field exhibited in major exhibitions in Boston, Washington, Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco. He died in 1914. The frame is about 36″ by 26″ and the exposed part of the painting is about 29-1/2″ by 19-1/2″. Framed picture is less than three inches in thickness. Weight of the framed picture is 12.5 pounds. For the past twelve years, I have been traveling in my Airstream trailer painting landscapes of this beautiful country of ours creating art that tries to capture a poetic mood. Inspired by the color and light, whether on a majestic landscape or intimate still life, using the techniques of Impressionism, Tonalism, and Realism is what I wish to share with the viewer. Lavender Sunset Original Oil Painting On Canvas Framed Landscape Field Sky Sun
In this painting I wanted to complement the yellow sunset with the bright purple of the lavender. I find the 2 colours together are calming much like the aroma of lavender. The painting is oil on canvas, it is framed and signed. Measurements are 56cm x 41cm (22″ x 16″) including the frame. You can find a limited amount of prints in my other listings. Born in Italy a country full of fine art I was happy to paint from a very young age. Therefore it was natural for me to further my education and learn all aspects of art. I first studied for 5 years at the college of art and design in Eboli. I then studied for a further 4 years at the Academy of Fine Art in Naples where I gained a degree in fine art. 20 years later, having travelled all over the world , I have painted for many exhibitions and worked on many commissions. Whilst living in the UK my partner and I established our own gallery where we exhibited work by local artists as well as my own. I now work from my studio Il Quadro located in Turkey, another beautiful country with so much inspiration to offer.
