Born on September 12, 1940, San Miguel is considered the “Father of Filipino Impressionism” and is perhaps the most noted Filipino artist of the century. He was a Pioneer in the Mabini Art Movement that developed out of the 1950s and is identified with a group of artists who set up their works on Mabini Street in Manila. This particular work of his, in the Mid Century Cubist form, is one his earlier pieces and probably was done at an early age in the late 1950s to very early 1960s. Subject is a Still Life of a Fish and several pieces of Fruit. In Excellent Condition with absolutely no holes, rips, scratches, repairs, etc. It is signed in the lower right in the fish plate. The Original Frame Measures 28 3/4″ Tall X 14 5/8″ Wide. The Canvas Measures 24″ Tall X 12″ Wide. An Excellent and Rare San Miguel in a great Mid Century Modern format! Don’t miss out!
