Large MCM Hollywood Regency 1970’s Floral Painting by Lee Reynolds Signed
Signed in lower right corner Reynolds. Very nice condition, ready to hang and enjoy. All reasonable offers will be considered and answered. Lee Reynolds Burr (19362017) opened his Vanguard Studios in Beverly Hills, California, in 1964 to make oil paintings an attainable decoration for any American household. With seascapes, nautical scenes, still lifes, bullfights, cowboys, pastoral views, hot-air balloons, horse races and abstractions, there was a Vanguard Studios creation to match any taste and interior. Born in Los Angeles, Burr studied art at the University of Southern California. After graduating and a stint in the U. Army, he worked in a local studio as a painter before becoming a home decor entrepreneur with financial support from his mother. These paintings regularly mirrored art-world trends, such as the Abstract Expressionism of the 1960s, but at prices that were much more affordable than fine art. Burr would start East Park Gallery in 1981 and continue to produce works in a more contemporary style until his retirement in 1998. Original oil on canvas painting abstract Carlo of Hollywood MCM signed WOW
There has been much written about this prolific artist who also did some set decorating for the “I Love Lucy” TV series. His work is becoming extremely collectible. This abstract painting is extremely large measuring approx 61.5 ” x 47″ framed and is in it’s original frame. The colors are bright and hues of greens and blues with a little black. I’m not an art expert however I would say it is in very good condition for its age. Appears to have been painted in 1963. No tears and colors are bright. There are a few pin dot white spots and a tiny scratch that is in one of the photos. I doubt any of this would be noticeable with it hanging on a wall. However I want to point anything I can see out. The frame is in good condition. A few minor bumps and scratches on it and on the left hand side of the frame there is an area lighter in color. Can easily be retouched.
