Cignani Italian Renaissance St Joseph Lady 1700s Old Master Antique Oil Painting
After Carlo Cignani, Italian Renaissance Joseph & the Wife of Potiphar, 1700’s Old Master Antique Oil Painting. An imposing and fresh to market 18th century Italian oil on canvas laid to board depicting a man and semi-naked woman in an interior. A finely and dramatically painted evocation of Carlo Cignani’s 1678 painting,”Joseph and the Wife of Potiphar”, from Genesis 39. The male subject appears here fully clothed and his female tempter is semi-naked and embracing him whilst he throws his hands up to heaven in desperation. In good condition commensurate with age and h oused in a good gilt frame, ready to hang. The image dimensions are approximately: 24 1/2” x 24 1/2” (62cm x 62cm). Original paintings by Joseph Henry Sharp, Oil On Linen. First painting: Sharp Indian man inscribed in pencil on the verso (Jerry Lightfoot) Jerry appears in many of Sharps paintings. Size: 20×16 oil on linen. Inscribed on the verso. Second painting is signed by the artist on the face of the painting. Titled: Sharp Indian lady inscribed in pencil on the verso (Maria) appears in several of Sharps paintings. I have some old original frames that came off the paintings, they cover about an 1 of the edge of the paintings. I will include images. These paintings came from an Estate in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I ran out of photos for this sale. Both paintings have some scuffing and small amount of paint loss. Feel free to ask any questions. EXCEPTIONAL Original/Signed Joseph Fruhmesser (1928-1995) Oil on Canvas/Framed
Born in Linz, Austria, his father was a civil engineer and traveled. About Austria and Bavaria a great deal, on various. Assignments, during Joseph’s childhood… Fruhmesser grew to love the scenery and mountains of Bavaria and his native Austria, and begin to sketch at every opportunity. After the Austrian Anschluss, he served in the Army; then after World War II, he moved to Munich where he made it his home. He married & set up a studio where he begin to paint. He was a self taught artist who’s paintings where popular in his lifetime & were his occupation. Framed oil on canvas painting, it is signed and is a beautiful study of a scenic mountain river view, it is in good condition for its age (frame a little tired with minor taps), it measures framed: 30″ by 26.5″… Big and wonderfully composed… Looks like a bit of the forest came home to live… Really there is fine work, approaching majestic? JOSEPH WALLACE KING (VINCIATA) ORIGINAL! Oil On Canvas Painting Vintage 1950’s
Portrait of a Woman. Guaranteed to be 100% Authentic! I was actually able to get in touch with Joseph Wallace King’s widow, Deborah King, and through her I have learned that this painting was featured at Joseph Wallace King’s first exhibition in Paris in 1958 at the Bernheim-Jeune Dauberville. That was King’s first solo exhibition, which basically launched his long career as “Vinciata”. This piece is also pictured in King’s autobiography book, “There Ain’t No Rags In Beverly Hills”, shown on page 26. The photo shows this painting sitting on the couch in a large room filled with paintings, while King was selecting pieces to be shown at a Hammer Galleries exhibition in New York, around 1964. Estimated Age: mid to late 1950’s. Size of Artwork: 12″ x 16″. Framed Size: 18″ x 22″. Condition: I personally would say that the Painting is in Very Good condition, considering it’s age. It does show some minor paint loss in a few small areas where the painting meets up with the frame. It also shows some natural color fading, light scratches, light scuffs, all of which should be completely expected for a piece of this age. The frame is in “old/used” condition, with natural wear, blemishes, scratches, nicks, etc.. To find original paintings by this artist! A majority of his original work is owned by private collectors, or held in the “Joseph Wallace King collection of art” at Elon University, in North Carolina.
