Ever since I can remember I have drawn and painted and told people when I grow up I want to be an artist. Reinforced itself when I completed my BA – Fine Art Painting from the Victorian College of the Arts and continues to this day. I hope you enjoy my paintings and thanks for looking. Rainy City is a painting done with oils on canvas. It is painted in a style deriving inspiration from cubism using geometric shapes, high key colour and letters. Its an abstract painting depicting a rainy day in the city with people walking down the street with their umbrellas out. Both the figures in the foreground and background intertwine with the landscape of the city itself and its elements. Various details will come into focus then out again as the viewer tries to make sense and order out the image whose subject matter is a figurative one drawn from real life. In the background elements of shop signs and buildings with windows are fractured but very much still represented. The colours used range across the board, with orange, yellow and light pastels in the background and heavy use of darker blues, purple and green for the shadowed people in the painting.
