Large Antique 16 x 20 FLOCK OF SHEEP in Barn Stable OIL PAINTING Framed
Presented for your consideration is this nice antique oil painting. The painting is of a flock of sheep in a barn (or stable). In the center are four sheep gathered around a water basin and standing in front of the basin are two chickens. The rest of the sheep in the painting appear to be eating hay. The painting is nicely done with intricate detailing. The rich, dark earthtones of the painting are bold. This is an original oil painting done on canvas but is unfortunately not signed by the artist. However, it is extremely similar to a painting of sheep done by Charles Emile Jacque. The painting is framed in a gorgeous, ornate, shadow box style frame that is painted a dark gold color. Looks like it is ready to be hanged in a museum or art gallery! Would make a great addition to any antique or vintage art collection! There are two small spots of paint off near the upper right corner. Two spots of light paint wear are near the bottom edge. The painting is free of punctures and rips. Paint is free of crazing and cracking. Three of the corners of the frame are chipped. Overall the painting is in VERY GOOD condition. 19C William Mark Fisher Impressionist Sunset Sheep Original Signed Oil Painting
Beautifully & fluently painted with a vibrant color palette and in good vintage condition. A good example of this highly collectible artists work, indistinctly signed lower left. Painting measures 19″ x 13″ and 24 1/2″ x 18 1/2″in its good gilt gallery frame. Exhibited in London at The Royal Academy 1912. While studying art in Paris, he was heavily influenced by his fellow classmates Monet, Sisley &Renoir. Menashe Kadishman Israeli Art Original Oil on Canvas Painting Sheep
Kadishman was born in the British Mandate Palestine in 1932. His father, who was a pioneer, died when Kadishman was 15 years old. From 1947 to 1950, Kadishman studied with the Israeli sculptor Moshe Sternschuss at the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv, and in 1954 with the Israeli sculptor Rudi Lehmann in Jerusalem. In 1959, he moved to London, where he attended Saint Martin’s School of Art and the Slade School of Art. [2] During 1959 and 1960 he also studied with Anthony Caro and Reg Butler. [2] He remained here until 1972; he had his first one-man show there in 1965 at the Grosvenor Gallery. His sculptures of the 1960s were Minimalist in style, and so designed as to appear to defy gravity. This was achieved either through careful balance and construction, as in Suspense (1966), or by using glass and metal so that the metal appeared unsupported, as in Segments (1968). The glass allowed the environment to be part of the work. Kadishman lived and created in his house in the city center of Tel Aviv. Kadishman was divorced, has 2 children. His son, Ben, is also a painter and his daughter, Maya Kadishman, is an actress who is married to the artist, Eran Shakine. On May 8, 2015 Kadishman died after he was hospitalized at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer.
