Here is an opportunity to own an original acrylic on canvas painting by Texas artist DonnaHowellSickles, who is world renowned for her colorful and creative contemporary images of Western women and horses. Donna painted and signed this work in 1998 for the famous Buffalo Bill Art Show in Cody, Wyoming, where she was the featured artist. The painting is called “Leading Horses to Water, ” and we bought it at the show. This is one of Donna’s larger works and measures 46 x 46 inches (117x117cm). It is surrounded by a 2inchwide black wooden frame made by a professional art gallery framer. Take note that “Leading Horses to Water” is a oneofa kind original painting and has not been copied or duplicated by the artist to sell as prints of any kind. See the photos above that show the painting displayed on a wall — a close-up and also in a room setting. Also shown is a close-up of her signature on the painting, and an autographed black-and-white photograph of the artist. Donna HowellSickles is an exceptional Western artist and her work is displayed in six American museums, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming, and the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2007 she was inducted into that hall of fame in recognition of her artwork that celebrates the cowgirl. The artist works on paper and canvas in a mix of charcoal, pastel and acrylic, often leaving her under-drawing visible. Through her colorful, smiling cowgirls, she has created heroines out of common women. The color red is always present in her work, as it symbolizes life and energy to the artist. Horses often stand for an obstacle overcome as well as inner strength. Her art is in many private and corporate collections in the U. A coffee-table book showing her work, The Art of Donna Howell-Sickles, Cowgirl Rising , was published in 1997. Please remember that SIZE matters. The painting is a framed original oil on canvas by Amy Ringholz. She painted it in 2003, and including the frame, it is 61.5″W x 49″H. It is a beautiful work, rich in jewel-toned hues, that will add a unique energy and spirit to any space. A resident of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Amy Ringholz brings a fresh and exuberant approach to wildlife art. Her large, colorful canvases show animals with definite personalities and expressive eyes that often seem to convey quite human emotions. Her animals are presented in a style that is at once very realistic, but also abstract and expressionistic. There is no mistaking the natural form and anatomy of each animal she portrays, although she presents her subjects in a bold sweep of color and shape. She is known for her unique process of drawing in ink and then adding bold, saturated colors. Her animals fill the canvas with energy and movement. Each painting is unique and reveals the soulful essence of the animal, whether it is a wolf, bear or bird. Whether she portrays animals in groups or as a single subject, all of her creations reflect an energy and beauty that emphasizes the complexity and joy found in nature. My husband and I were fortunate enough to know Amy when she lived in the Cincinnati area in 2002 – 2003. We were immediately drawn to her work and asked if she would create some artwork for us. This is one of those paintings. She did not name it, but I like to call it. It has proudly been displayed in my husband’s office since its creation in 2003. However, like many other people, we are in the process of downsizing and thus do not have space for the painting anymore. We are keeping the other three works she created for us, but unfortunately, we don’t have enough room for all four. Thank you for your consideration!
