ORIGINAL AVIATION ART WWII LUFTWAFFE Me 262 JET on the Tarmac by Peter Champion
My listing today for an ORIGINAL acrylic painting on artboard painted by internationally recognized aviation artist Peter Champion. This dramatic original painting is signed by the artist in block letters. The piece is professionally framed in an attractive walnut wood frame with gold gilt trim. The framed painting is ready to hang and measures approximately 25″ wide by 21″ high, with an image area measuring 20″ x 16″. The back of the painting contains the following annotation: Me 262 Peter Champion. I first viewed this original painting while attending the Duxford Airshow 1997 where I viewed the painting which was on display by a well known aviation art gallery. This is one of my favorite paintings and I’m confident its new owner will enjoy it as much as me. In addition, he served in the Royal Navy at age 20 and, in later years, was a glider pilot for 17 years, having completed 1080 flights. His artwork was commended by former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Champion passed away at the age of 85 on 25 March, 2014. Certainly, an impressive resume. The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world’s first operational jet fighter and represented a quantum leap forward in aviation technology. Its development was plagued by delays, and very few reached operational status prior to war’s end. Its shark-like fuselage, swept back wings and dual Jumo jet engines gave the aircraft is distinctive appearance. This framed painting weighs approximately 4 pounds, and packaging will increase the overall weight by approximately 2 pounds. Thanks for looking and please Check out my other items. Large Leonard H. Reedy Western Original Oil on Canvas Painting, 36 1/2 x 32
Large, original oil on canvas painting by Western artist Leonard Howard Reedy (1899 – 1956), framed in a rustic, “wormhole” style vintage wooden frame. The title of this painting has been lost to history. Most of Reedy’s works on the market at any time are small watercolors. His larger and less common oil paintings are relatively scarce and don’t come to market often. This painting measures 36 1/2″ x 32″ (frame), 30″ x 25″ (canvas), 29.5″ x 24.5″ (sight). Regarding age, my best guess (and it’s, admittedly, a “guess”) is that this painting was painted sometime between the late’20’s and early’30’s. Provenance suggests that age. Subject is a western landscape depicting a cattle drive in the Old West. Painting is in good condition with no noticeable flaws or craquelure. No anomalies under blacklight. Has not been inspected outside the frame. See photos for additional condition description. Frame has four very small holes on the back (top center and left center) from the lighting system once used to illuminate the painting. Holes do not protrude through the front of the frame (see photos). Provenance: In a private collection in the Midwest since the early 2000’s. The club merged with another club in the early 2000’s whereupon the paintings went to the private collection. Leonard Reedy was a landscape and figure painter, born in Chicago, Illinois, April 24, 1899. He studied at the Chicago Institute and Academy of Fine Arts as well as self-taught. At the age of ten he demonstrated an unusual aptness and fondness for drawing and painting and chose to manifest this talent by illustrating the margins of his schoolbooks with his heroes of the west: Indians, cowpunchers, and bandits. He was a great admirer of Frederick Remington whose portrayal of the West and Frontier Days will forever be appreciated and cherished as historically preserving the early pioneering, indomitable spirit and tradition of a great bygone era in American History. Like Remington, Reedy lived in the’Great Open Spaces’ and was at home on the Great Plains, the desert country, mountains, as well as mining and timber camps. He worked as a ranch hand. He roamed with the Indians. Over a period of many years, he gained a bountiful knowledge of western life and of the subjects he loved to portray. No doubt his great love and admiration for the early rough and rugged West of long ago decided for him what to paint. He preserved and described action which showed characters true to their habits and period; Frontier days of the plainsman; sagebrush; cactus and mesquite; The Gold rush; frontier towns; the stage coach; the hold up; the covered wagon; Buffalo Bill and the scouts; Soldiers and Indian warfare; the western trek of the home-seeker, fraught with constant danger; war-painted Indians on the warpath; the attack; bleached bones on the prairie; the tireless search for gold; all preserved the outstanding incidents of the pioneer days, the hardships and struggles during a most important epoch of our nation’s history. Note: Two other, similar works also available (same size with identical frames) with same provenance. The item “Large Leonard H. Painting in excellent condition, but the frame has a crack in the top right corner (see 2 main photos above). 100 percent guarantee of authenticity. Certificate of Authenticity is included. Please feel free to send us a message. Check out my other items. Matt Smith was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1960. At an early age he moved to Arizona. He later moved to Europe where he lived two years in France and one in Switzerland. In subsequent years Smith painted in Germany, Austria and Italy. Smith has lived most of his life in Arizona, where he has a deep attachment and respect for the Sonoran Desert. Smith graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting. He spent a vast amount of time studying the traditional styles of such landscapes masters as Maynard Dixon, William Herbert Dunton and Edgar Payne. Most of the time, Smith can be found painting en plein air from southern Arizona to the Canadian Rockies. He also paints the California coast to the mountains of Colorado. I enjoy working in areas where one can travel for miles without seeing the influence of man. When I paint, I feel I’ve hit the mark when I’ve captured a balance between mood, look and feel. You know you’ve succeeded when viewers sense the desert heat or the chill of a mountain snowfall. Smith currently lives in Arizona with his wife, Tracy, who is also a painter. 2010 Merit Award – “Western Rendezvous of Art”. 2009 Merit Award & Best of Show – “Western Rendezvous of Art”. 2006 Merit Award – “Western Rendezvous of Art”. 2005 Merit Award – “Western Rendezvous of Art”. 2000 Robert Lougheed Award – “Prix de West”. 2000 Merit Award & Best of Show – “Western Rendezvous of Art”. 1999 Best of Show – “Tucson Plein Air Paint-Off”. 1997 Red Smith Award – “Western Visions” – National Wildlife Art Museum. 1997 Best of Show – “Emerging City” – San Jose, CA. 2010 June – Southwest Art – “Catching the Light”. 2010 January – Western Art Collector – “Southwest Light”. 2009 December – Southwest Art – “Success Stories”. 2009 July – Art of the West – “A Feeling of Time and Place”. 2007 November – Art of the West – “Twenty One”. 2002 January – American Artist – “Making the Landscape Your Own”. 2001 April – International Artist – “Ask a Master”. 2000 September – Art of the West – “My Passion is Nature”. 1999 May – Arizona Corridors – “Arizona Artists”. 1998 February – Southwest Art – “Desert Vistas”. 1993 December – Art Talk – “Artists Worth Watching”. 1992 March – Art of the West – “Pushing the Limits”. 15x30 original 1953 oil painting on canvas by Robert Wood California Coast
Gorgeous 15×30 California cost original oil on canvas. Another masterpiece by Robert Wood.. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION! Robert William Wood was active/lived in California, Texas, Maryland / Canada, England. Robert Wood is known for landscape, coastal view and still life painting. A painter of realistic landscapes reflecting a vanishing wilderness in America, Robert Wood not to be confused with Robert E. Wood is reportedly one of the most mass-produced artists in the United States. His painting became so popular he was unable to meet all of the demands, and many of his works were reproduced in lithographs and mass distributed as prints, place mats, and wall murals by companies including Sears, Roebuck. He was born in Sandgate, Kent on the south coast of England near Dover, the son of W. Wood, a famous home and church painter who recognized and supported his son’s talent. In fact, he forced his son to paint by keeping him inside to paint rather than playing with his friends.
