Antique Mid Century Impressionist Nude Woman Oil Painting N. Scott Jones
This is a well done and evocative Antique Mid Century Impressionist Nude Woman Oil Painting on canvas, by early Southern California artist N. This work approximately dates to the 1940’s, and depicts a reclining nude brunette woman on a red blanket. She faces away from the viewer, while her bare back and buttocks are visible. This is a lovely example of late American Impressionism, and would fit right in with the early French Impressionists of the late 19th century in terms of style and composition. Scott Jones in the lower right of the canvas. Not much is known about this artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work. I also have another original artwork by N. Scott Jones available in my listings. Approximately 25 x 36 inches. Good condition for age, with light edge wear and a few light scratches and dimples to the canvas please see photos. An old exhibition label on the verso reads: Fourteenth Annual Emily Lowe Competition. Art Project of the Joe & Emily Lowe Foundation. From this information, this work appears to have been exhibited in the 1950’s, but my personal experience leads me to believe this painting was likely created a decade earlier, based on the canvas, stretcher, and composition of this piece.
