JOE ABBRESCIA ORIGINAL-SIGNED PAINTING, A LITTLE HELP Oil on Canvas
Signed by the Artist. Canvas Measures 24″ x 36″, Original Frame/Velvet Mat Measures 34″ x 45″. This original painting by artist Joseph Abbrescia is a stunning work of impressionist art, capturing the beauty and physicality of the west. Vibrant colors, a striking landscape, and masterful use of light all join to bring this scene of ranchers and cattle indelibly to life. The painting is in excellent condition and measures 24″ x 36″. Featuring its original frame and velvet mat, also in excellent condition, the full piece measures 34″ x 45″, making an impressive statement in any home. The original artwork label is located on the bottom frame and reads: “A Little Help”. Joseph Abbrescia was a native of Yonkers, New York. He studied art at American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL. He received further training as an illustrator in the U. He spent many years as a commercial artist, before opening his own art school, The Village Art School. The West holds a strong attraction for creative people, artists in particular, and they still travel westward to experience its rugged landscape and to sample the unique flavor of the West. Joe Abbrescia followed this trend and left his familiar eastern setting, moving first to Montana, then to Arizona, and then back to Montana in 1992 where he established the Abbrescia Fine Art Studios and Gallery where he showcased his work until Joe passed away in 2005. Joe has said, I view my paintings as an opportunity to share with others my love for life, nature, and beauty… Joe has been recognized as one of America’s most accomplished impressionist painters. LISTED AMERICAN HENRY GASSER MODERNIST LANDSCAPE ORIGINAL OIL on CANVAS N/R
Listed American Artist Henry Martin Gasser, Signed this Magnificent Original Landscape, Oil on Wood (Bone Board), titled’Mountain Vista’ in Excellent condition! Signed on lower right:’HGasser’. The sticker on the back of the frame shows quite some age and leads me think it is original to the piece, late’40’s -’50’s. Artwork measures 16 X 20. Vintage Dark Brown frame with 2 One piece, Hand wrapped Linen Liner, with Gold lip. Outside measure of the frame is 22 X 26. He was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1909, and pursued his interest in painting at the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Art and the Grand Central Art School in New York. He went on to enroll at the Art Students League, also in New York, where he met and took private lessons with fellow New Jersey artist John Grabach. Gassers rise to fame as a talented watercolorist was reinforced with invitations to participate in important exhibitions, where he earned awards from the Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington Water Color Clubs, Mint Museum of Art, and Montclair Art Museum, to name a few. He was also an active member of over twenty prestigious artist organizations, including the Allied Artists of America, Art Students League, The National Arts Club, The Royal Academy of the Arts, and The Salmagundi Club, serving as vice president of both the American Water Color Society and the National Academy of Design in 1953. Gasser drew upon his success as an artist and expanded upon his talents to further cultivate his already multi-faceted career: he published several successful instructional books on painting techniques. Gasser continued to thrive as a teacher, author, and artist until his death in 1981; his entire career was dedicated to capturing an important period of New Jerseys history and he once stated, I have accumulated a collection of paintings that will serve as a historic record of the community. An iconic Abstract Expressionist image, will enhance any interior or serious art collection. A prominent figure among the New York School painters, Mark Rothko moved through many artistic styles until reaching his signature 1950s motif of soft, rectangular forms floating on a stained field of color. Rothko reduced the number of forms in his pictures, and grew them such that they filled out the canvas, hovering on fields of stained colour that are only visible at their borders. These, his best known works, have come to be called his “sectionals”, and Rothko felt they better met his desire to create universal symbols of human yearning. The all-over compositions, the blurred boundaries, the continuousness of color, and the wholeness of form were all elements of his development towards a transcendental experience of the sublime, Rothko’s goal.
