Antique Oil on Canvas Painting with Cows by Henry Schouten (1864-1927)
Escription of item for sale. This oil on board. Schouten studied at the Academy of Brussels from 1876 to 1881. He specialized in paintings of cattle, poultry and other animals. This painting is a classic example of his work, professionally executed with warm summer colors. Both the painting and frame are in very good antique condition. The paint shows no cracks or other age marks but it looks like it might brighten with a cleaning. The oak board is flat and undamaged. The rococo frame is from the same time period as the painting but is not original to it. However, it complements the painting quite nicely. Note cracks in two corners of the frame. Dimensions : 18″ wide, 14.5″ tall and 2.5 deep in its frame. The panel size is 12.75″ wide and 9.5″ tall. This Henri Robert Bresil oil on canvas measures 28×22 or in the original wood frame dimensions of 30″ x 24″ of a jungle scene with flamingos along a stream, signed lower left HR Bresil. Bresil was most recognized for his lush green jungle landscapes that featured pink flamingos, egrets, waterfalls, flowing streams or serene pools of water. This beautiful painting by Henri Robert Bresil is in excellent condition and is masterfully done…. This is a quintessential example of his work. Henri Robert Bresil was born in Gonaives, Haiti in 1952. He began to paint quite early in life and relocated to Port-au-Prince in 1973. And painted his first works, beginning a career as a world-renowned painter. After receiving the Ispan-Unesco prize in 1981, he exhibited in all the major galleries in Haiti, and abroad in the U. As a landscape painter. Bresil is one of those painters whose work is instantly recognizable for his repetitive use of lush green jungle landscapes that are often populated with pink flamingos with waterfalls, flowing streams or tranquil pools of water. Bresil is much appreciated by art lovers and collectors throughout the world and his work. Original paintings by Joseph Henry Sharp, Oil On Linen. First painting: Sharp Indian man inscribed in pencil on the verso (Jerry Lightfoot) Jerry appears in many of Sharps paintings. Size: 20×16 oil on linen. Inscribed on the verso. Second painting is signed by the artist on the face of the painting. Titled: Sharp Indian lady inscribed in pencil on the verso (Maria) appears in several of Sharps paintings. I have some old original frames that came off the paintings, they cover about an 1 of the edge of the paintings. I will include images. These paintings came from an Estate in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Please, dont be afraid to make offers on this beautiful, vintage painting. There are quite a few vintage prints to be found on the market, but originals are much more difficult to find. As you know, Blackman was a well-loved artist in the 60s/70s. Take a chance – all I can do is accept your offer, say no, or counter offer! This is a beautiful seascape painting on canvas by William Blackman. The visible painting measures 35.5 x 17.5. Including the inside frame 37.25 x 19.25. Including the outside frame 41.25 x 23.25. There is a small area that seems to have slight surface damage. It is otherwise in excellent condition. The framer apparently nailed cardboard to the inner frame, to allow something to attach to the outer frame. The frame includes 2 pieces. The frame immediate to the painting is layered on top of the outer frame. It can be hung with both or just the inner frame. The frames are wood with brass accent, and some kind of twill fabric. LISTED AMERICAN HENRY GASSER MODERNIST LANDSCAPE ORIGINAL OIL on CANVAS N/R
Listed American Artist Henry Martin Gasser, Signed this Magnificent Original Landscape, Oil on Wood (Bone Board), titled’Mountain Vista’ in Excellent condition! Signed on lower right:’HGasser’. The sticker on the back of the frame shows quite some age and leads me think it is original to the piece, late’40’s -’50’s. Artwork measures 16 X 20. Vintage Dark Brown frame with 2 One piece, Hand wrapped Linen Liner, with Gold lip. Outside measure of the frame is 22 X 26. He was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1909, and pursued his interest in painting at the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Art and the Grand Central Art School in New York. He went on to enroll at the Art Students League, also in New York, where he met and took private lessons with fellow New Jersey artist John Grabach. Gassers rise to fame as a talented watercolorist was reinforced with invitations to participate in important exhibitions, where he earned awards from the Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington Water Color Clubs, Mint Museum of Art, and Montclair Art Museum, to name a few. He was also an active member of over twenty prestigious artist organizations, including the Allied Artists of America, Art Students League, The National Arts Club, The Royal Academy of the Arts, and The Salmagundi Club, serving as vice president of both the American Water Color Society and the National Academy of Design in 1953. Gasser drew upon his success as an artist and expanded upon his talents to further cultivate his already multi-faceted career: he published several successful instructional books on painting techniques. Gasser continued to thrive as a teacher, author, and artist until his death in 1981; his entire career was dedicated to capturing an important period of New Jerseys history and he once stated, I have accumulated a collection of paintings that will serve as a historic record of the community.
