Vintage Mid Century Modern Portrait Painting of Gentleman by Yasuo. The painting is an original oil on canvas that measures 18 inches x 24 inches x 1 inch. The painting does have some flaking, which can be seen in the photos. It is signed “Yasuo” in the bottom right corner. His style changed over the years. If he painted this, it would have most likely been in the 1940’s or 1950’s. I’m not attributing the painting to him, but he is the predominant “Yasuo” that turns up in internet research. There are a couple of “P 12″ stamps on the strainer and a small stamp that kind of resembles a Phoenix, but I can’t make out the words. I was told this portrait could have a connection to the Lamon family of Knoxville, Tennessee, that started Laymon Jewelers, but I have not been able to confirm this. It came from an antique dealer who acquired it in Knoxville, most likely from an estate sale. This is all of the information I have on it. It would benefit from a cleaning and/or restoration.
