Antique 1800’s original portrait of a lady oil painting on canvas ornate frame
Up for sale is a very nice quality antique early 19th century original portrait of a lady oil painting on canvas. It’s painted with a realistic approach depicting a lovely portrait of a middle aged lady wearing drop crystal earrings. She is set over a deep black background and made in an oval format. The painting is set in a period open worked Victorian gold gilt wooden frame which is done with very ornate detailing throughout. It is in nice antique condition and measures 27 inches by 23 inches framed. It has normal age ware and two surface scratches on the canvas as shown in last photo. ADD ME TO YOUR FAVOURITES. Here we have an Original Oil Painting on Linen Canvas probably from the end of the Victorian Era or beginning of 1900s. Initialled in the lower right corner. (maybe a C or G and another letter that I cannot make out). Some initials also at the back. Nice impressionist painting depicting a underwood countryside landscape. Looking at the dovetailed stretcher, at the style and conditions of the surface I suppose from 1880s – 1920s. The painting is in overall good conditions commensurate with age. It comes as found with a ornated gilded Plaster Wooden frame. Many bits of Gesso missing here and there. (and probably more will detatch during the passage through the postal service).
