Zamy Steynovitz Original Oil on Canvas Painting 20×24 Framed Judaica Art
Beautiful expressionist painting by Israeli artist Zamy Steynovitz (1951 – 2000). Born in Legnica, Poland, Steynovitz immigrated to Israel in 1957. This is a stunning, framed, oil on canvas painting measuring 20 x 24. It has been on display in a smoke-free and humidity controlled environment ever since. The painting colors are clean and vibrant, with no discoloration or staining that I can see. From the Zamy Steynovitz Wikipedia entry: Zamy’s art displays chromatic and thematic richness. His choice of subjects was strongly influenced by Jewish tradition and folklore, displaying general themes: Paris, still lifes, flowers, angels, circuses and landscapes. Zamys paintings are a reflection of his Eastern-European Jewish heritage, and they are enhanced by a rich choice of warm tones and colors. Aston Knight, the son of Daniel Ridgway Knight. And Rebecca Morris Webster Knight, was born in Paris. He was raised in Europe and received his early training with his father. He later continued his studies with Tony Robert-Fleury. Aston Knight exhibited his first work at the Paris Salon. In 1894 and continued exhibiting there throughout his lifetime, winning an honorable mention in 1901, a third class gold medal in 1905, and second glass gold medal in 1906. His favorite subjects were the cottages and gardens in the towns surrounding his home in Beaumont-le-Roger. He was noted for his ability to render the transparency, the reflections and the movements of water. He married Caroline Ridgeway Brewster at the home of State Senator Joseph Sherman Frelinghuysen, Sr. In Raritan, New Jersey. They had two sons, Ridgway Brewster Knight and George William Knight, and a daughter, Diane Knight Todd, whose childhood playhouse was a frequent subject of Knight’s paintings. Power Struggle, 1906 (This painting is similar to a painting in his book) T. He size of the painting is 13 3/8 x 17 1/2, signed lower left Tex Moore with Longhorn Monogram. Overall size of the framed piece is 20 x 24 1/4 Please enlarge photograhs to more carefully review the painting’s condition. Tex lived a very interesting life as a true cowboy of over 40 years, a Texas Ranger and an artist that was declared by the Texas Legislature under HCR No. 48 to be the Official Cowboy Artist of Texas back in April of 1935. He was self-taught, but always admired the art of Thomas Moran, and Moran’s influence can be seen in his work. In a January 1971 article in Golden West Magazine titled. The Taming of Tex Moore. It talks about Tex meeting Charles Russell, and that it was Charles Russell who convinced him he needed to give up cattle drives and become an artist. Tex even used a longhorn monogram similar to Russell’s on his art. I just acquired several pieces of Tex Moore’s work, all art that was in his home in Wichita Falls at the time of his death. Most of the pieces have been stored under a bed for, in some cases, over 100 years. As he traveled throughout the west on cattle drives and as a scout, Tex painted everything from beautiful mountain scenes to river scenes, then breathtaking ocean scenes and then some of the most spectacular desert scenes imaginable.
