Twilight Tonalist Wetlands Impressionism Art Oil Painting Landscape Sunset Tonal
Medium: Oil on Canvas Board. I’m an artist, actor, and volunteer firefighter. For the past twelve years, I have been traveling in my Airstream trailer painting landscapes of this beautiful country of ours creating art that tries to capture a poetic mood. Inspired by the color and light, whether on a majestic landscape or intimate still life, using the techniques of Impressionism, Tonalism, and Realism is what I wish to share with the viewer. Exploring not only the landscape of the United States but also the wonderful art treasures we as a country possess. I have studied in many of the art museums from coast to coast and have learned many a lesson from the great art masters of the past. From Rembrandt to Monet, to Van Gogh to Jackson Pollock and beyond. As an actor, which I have begun fairly recently, I have been on many sets. As a volunteer firefighter, I have a deeper sense of community by giving what I can to help those in need. Vintage Oil Painting St Bavo Church The Netherlands Carl W. Houbein Listed Dutch
Oil Painting of St. Bavo Church by Carl W. Houbein Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage, framed oil on canvas painting by the listed artist, Carl Houbein. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This architectural painting depicts the interior of the St. Bavokerk also known as Grote Kerk or St. Bavo church in Haarlem, The Netherlands. The canvas measures approximately 27 5/8 inches by 19 1/2 inches. The painting is housed in a mottled, gold-finished wooden frame which is newer than the painting. The exterior frame measurements are about 29 7/8 inches by 21 15/16 inches. Unpacked, this weighs a bit over 3 3/4 pounds. This post-war painting would make a wonderful addition to a collection of religious or architectural-themed fine art. Identification This painting is by the listed artist, Carl Weibren Houbein (1915 – 2001). Per askART, the artist was born in Holland as Gerlof Wiebren Houbein, and he later changed his first name to Carl. He moved to Australia or New Zealand around 1953, and relocated to southern California in 1960. Houbein passed away in Los Angeles. Verso, there is writing on the stretchers, as shown, including the date, “15 August 1947″ and the artist’s name, G. The following is also written on the stretcher, “Ge Houbein Haarlem’47” and “Kl Heiligland 48, ” which is an address located in Haarlem; this may have been the artist’s home. Condition The painting looks good overall. The canvas has some rippling, particularly to the lower left, as found. The frame has light wear, but it looks very good overall; the back of the frame has sticky areas, probably from having a paper backing affixed at one time. There is a crossbar connecting the stretchers verso, as found. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing. Terms of Sale 1.
