The work is oil on canvas and measures 30 x 24 inches (canvas). Actual image measures 17 1/2 x 12 3/4 inches (sight). Painting is nicely framed with silk matting and wood frame. The overall size is 33 x 27 inches. Painting is signed lower left. This work most likely a published work but I have not located the publication. Painting and new framing are in excellent condition. Born in Minneapolis, Bill Medcalf received all of his art education from schools near his hometown. In 1940 and 1941, he worked in the art department of the US Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing. In 1942, he joined the Navy as a gunners mate. “The Pinup Art of Bill Medcalf”.
