C1980 Robert Lenkiewicz Lilac Nude Original Oil on Canvas. An unusual and interesting oil on canvas painting from around 1980, depicting a large reclining nude woman, with similarities to Lucian Freud’s well known’Benefits Supervisor Sleeping’. However this being more of an impressionist picture and with the subtlety of the tones, the absence of a face, make it more attractive to the eye. The painting has been titled’Lilac Nude’ by the Somerville Gallery in Plymouth. It is the work of the late Plymouth artist Robert O. Lenkiewicz (1941 – 2002). Always controversial, he is better known for his disturbing social studies although the market prefers his portraits of attractive young muses. This picture demonstrates his prowess of texture and colour and despite its lack of detail, it displays plenty of interest and effort on his part. The painting is framed and glazed. The frame is the traditional heavy black ribbed wood. Condition is very good, although there are some touched up scratches on the frame. The painting is unsigned, but well known to be Lenkiewicz’s work. Picture Size: 52 x 53cm (20 1/2 x 20 3/4 inches) Frame Size: 76 x 74 x 5.5cm (30 x 29 x 2 1/4 inches) Weight: 10.5kg. _gsrx_vers_625 GS 6.9.7 (625).
