MESA NORTH OF MANY FARMS (2015) by Bill Schenck Oil Painting
MESA NORTH OF MANY FARMS (2015) is a pop art vision of a mesa on the Hopi Reservation, featuring neon blues, browns and pinks. Signed by the artist, recto (front) and verso (back). MEDIUM: Oil on canvas. SIZE: 14″ H x 18″ W. FRAME SIZE: 19.75″ H x 23.25″ W x 1.25 D, Gold frame. Billy Schenck (1947-) received a BA from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1967 and a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute in 1969. Schenck says he was influenced by New York’s photo-realists, color field and minimalists. After working with Andy Warhol, Schenck became known for using cinematic imagery, where colors are displayed next to each other, rather than blended; much like Pop Art. Since the 1970’s, Schenck has painted in the west and exhibited in the United States and Europe. His work is in more than 40 museums and corporate collections, as well as many private collections.
