Antique FEDERAL GENTLEMAN Folk Oil Portrait Painting GOLD Gilt Frame c1830-40s
Here is a very nice antique gentleman oil portrait painting. It is framed in its original gilt gold , heavy compo/gesso frame. The man has a Napoleon style hair cut and a dark blue jacket on. His inner vest is a light blue and his. The entire piece measures 18 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. The canvas only measures 12 1/8 x 13 7/8 in. Fair/good as is vintage condition. Some gilt paint overlay chipped/worn off in spots. Painting has mild crazing, nail hole thru top right, and bottom right. I say all this but the item dates to the 1830-40s so almost 200 years old soon. Not new, not perfect. The man is painted in a folk art style. All pictures to judge condition. Antique Pink WHITE ROSES Oil Painting Gold FRAME Lstd Charlotte LILLA YALE c1900
Here is a beautiful antique oil on canvas painting of some soft pink and white roses. The artist depicted them lying on a tabletop and they still have all their foliage. The painting is framed in a newer gold gesso picture frame. The artist is signed very darkly at the bottom right. On the back stretcher is some script in pencil signed Charlotte Lilla Yale 1900. That is American listed. There is also a address that I cannot quite make-out. The entire piece measures 14 3/4 x 24 3/4 in. The canvas alone measures 11 x 20 in. The art is in good as is vintage condition with a chip of paint off at the side right. The frame has chips on the corners but is solid and stable. This is really one of the prettiest antique roses paintings I have ever seen. Perfect for Victorian, Edwardian, Romantic, Shabby, Cottage-chic, and late 1800s to 1900s decors. He takes inspiration from childhood books, popular culture and artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Glen Baxter. Bromley focuses on the physical and emotional journey of lifes travels, using the imagery of the. Comic culture to paint vivid, passionate pictures of the spills and thrills of childhood. He centres on the adolescent years where he believes life is at its most intense and its demands are at their strongest. He uses colour and figurative expressionism with nostalgia and the symbolism of Pop Art to hint at the innocence of the young.
