Offering Mexican Modernist oil painting signed Diego Rivera, w COA. Modern, exquisite oil painting on canvas of a depicting a Mexican peasant man working. Size of the artwork is 25.0 x 29.9 centimeters. Very good condition of the artwork can be appreciated, aging can be noticed, further restoration is not necessary. Inscribed Diego Rivera in the lower right margin. The artworks comes with documentation, a registration at National Fine Arts Title Registry, COA which came with the artwork when acquired, transfer of ownership of the artwork to the new owner and transfer of registry records to the new owner, provenance markings as stamp, label and other writings can be found on verso of the artwork. The artwork is described in the documentation and offered as unique artwork, in manner of the artist. The artwork was acquired in estate liquidation sale in France. Mexican-born painter and muralist Diego Rivera sought to make art that reflected the lives of the working class and native peoples of Mexico. Riveras view thus, turned towards the Mexican indigenous people and campesinos, the ones who in spite of having lost everything during the Revolution, kept their ancient dignity and a fierce instinct for survival which allowed them to hold onto their values, and protect their traditions, resisting their disappearance while facing the changes of so-called progress. For Diego Rivera, Mexican children and working class became a central theme within his artistic production. Ultimately, his paintings pay homage to the dignity of work and especially the back-breaking labor of underclass men and women, the work is in fact part of a long tradition in art that began in the nineteenth century with artists such as Jean-François Millet, Gustave Courbet and Camille Pissarro, who painted the working classes with great nobility. Rivera is widely regarded as the most influential Mexican artist of the twentieth century. This beautiful original is 28 X 65 inches. The sticker on the back (please see pictures) is torn and the title seen is “Na Na”. I also have two other Lee Chesney pieces as well as four Janina Baranowska paintings for sale. Printmaker, painter and educator, was born in Washington, D. On June 1, 1920. He studied art at the University of Colorado with James Boyle, receiving his B. Chesney continued his studies at the University of Iowa where he worked with Mauricio Lasansky and James Lechay, earning his M. Further studies took him to Universidad de Michoacan in Mexico where he studied with Alfredo Zalce, and to the renowned experimental printmaking workshop Atelier 17 in New York, under the supervision of founder Stanley William Hayter. Chesneys career as an educator included teaching at the University of Southern California, the Otis Art Institute, the University of Illinois-Urbana, and the University of Iowa. He is a member of the College Art Association of American and the Society of American Graphic Artists. Chesneys work has garnered numerous awards which included a Fulbright Fellowship in 1956/57. Alvaro Guillot (1930- 2010), the son of a diplomat, has traveled throughout the world. Guillot has been described as a Surrealist with blocks of color and the arrangement of shapes within the canvas rather than in the nature of the subject matter itself. This artwork was acquired in a folio of paintings and screenprints from UK, the artwork is accompanied with registration certificate at National Fine Arts Registry, with a letter of description, COA, with transfer of ownership letter and transfer of registration certificate to the new owner, artwork is currently presented and described as in manner of the artist, as is, as was acquired. An iconic Abstract Expressionist image, will enhance any interior or serious art collection. A prominent figure among the New York School painters, Mark Rothko moved through many artistic styles until reaching his signature 1950s motif of soft, rectangular forms floating on a stained field of color. Rothko reduced the number of forms in his pictures, and grew them such that they filled out the canvas, hovering on fields of stained colour that are only visible at their borders. These, his best known works, have come to be called his “sectionals”, and Rothko felt they better met his desire to create universal symbols of human yearning. His paintings were not self-expressions, he claimed, but statements about the condition of man. The all-over compositions, the blurred boundaries, the continuousness of color, and the wholeness of form were all elements of his development towards a transcendental experience of the sublime, Rothko’s goal.
