Zamy Steynovitz Original Oil on Canvas Painting 20×24 Framed Judaica Art
Beautiful expressionist painting by Israeli artist Zamy Steynovitz (1951 – 2000). Born in Legnica, Poland, Steynovitz immigrated to Israel in 1957. This is a stunning, framed, oil on canvas painting measuring 20 x 24. It has been on display in a smoke-free and humidity controlled environment ever since. The painting colors are clean and vibrant, with no discoloration or staining that I can see. From the Zamy Steynovitz Wikipedia entry: Zamy’s art displays chromatic and thematic richness. His choice of subjects was strongly influenced by Jewish tradition and folklore, displaying general themes: Paris, still lifes, flowers, angels, circuses and landscapes. Zamys paintings are a reflection of his Eastern-European Jewish heritage, and they are enhanced by a rich choice of warm tones and colors. He evoked a universal humanistic idea in his creation; mans connection to his heritage and physical surroundings. This painting will be packed with extra care and protection to insure that you will receive it without issue. Please see my other listing for another Steynovitz painting of the same dimensions. They display wonderfully together. The item “Zamy Steynovitz Original Oil on Canvas Painting 20×24 Framed Judaica Art” is in sale since Saturday, March 05, 2016. I only want to make simple, very simple art, and to be able to do that, I have to re-immerse myself in virgin nature, see no one but savages, live their life, with no other thought in mind but to render, the way a child would, the concepts formed in my brain and to do this with the aid of nothing but the primitive means of art, the only means that are good and true. Gauguin interviewed by Jules Huret, lEcho de Paris, 1891. Gauguin produced works in which the fluidity and expressiveness of the brushstrokes reflect his sense of artistic liberation. His iconic representations of Tahitian women going about their daily lives amidst the splendour of the tropics are amongst the most sensually beautiful images in all of western art, instantly recognisable, and always fused with a voyeuristic eroticism. This picture sings with the intense and highly interpretative palette that marks out the greatest of Gauguin’s pictures from his voyage to Tahiti. During this stay he remained infatuated by the place, and that infatuation suffused his paintings. These took on a new energy after his discovery of a book on the old Polynesian beliefs, which ignited his passion for Tahiti. If you ever wanted to own one of his beautiful paintings, now is the time. There is no way that the digital image can show the beauty of this artwork by this important artist. Few people reach a level of fame where they are instantly recognized by the mention of their last name. When people of any level of art awareness hear the name TARKAY, they know immediately that the speaker is referring to ITZCHAK TARKAY, the living artist whose work is in the highest demand of any today. We are saddened to announce that World-renowned artist Itzchak Tarkay died unexpectedly Sunday, June 3, 2012 after emergency heart surgery. The Israeli artist was visiting metropolitan Detroit as the featured guest at a collector’s event hosted by Park West Gallery. Itzchak Tarkay 1935 – 2012. Tarkay’s works celebrate the beauty and intimacy of woman and are noted for their vivid use of color. His subjects, dressed in shades of red, yellow, blue, violet and green, sit or recline against boldly colored backgrounds. Two women at a café engrossed in intimate conversation. A female figure draped in a patterned skirt lounging on a chair. A melancholy lady alone at tea. These are snapshots of life as seen through the eyes of Itzchak Tarkay. Today, Itzchak Tarkay is one of the most popular and loved artists in the world. A modern master, Tarkay draws upon the entire realm of art history in a body of work that is not only aesthetically agreeable and compositionally seductive, but a cultural phenomenon responsible for countless love letters, innumerable nights of passion and incalculable furtive glances – the very substance of visual poetry. Itzchak Tarkay was born in 1935 in Subotica on the Yugoslav Hungarian border. When he was only nine years old, the Nazis sent Tarkay to Mathausen concentration camp. While still at school in Subotica he won a prize for excellence in painting. In 1949 he and his family immigrated to Israel and were sent to a transit camp for new arrivals at Beer Yaakov. Their next two years were spent in a kibbutz. In 1951, Tarkay received a scholarship to the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem, where he studied for a year before having to leave due to difficult financial circumstances at home. In order to continue his scholarship, he was allowed to study under the artist Schwartzman until his mobilization to the Israeli army. After returning to the familiar environment of Tel Aviv, Tarkay enrolled in the Avni Institute of Art, which he graduated in 1956. His teachers there were Monkady, Janko, Schtreichman and Sematsky. Tarkays roots as a painter take hold in the decisive years of modern art. The bright colors and flat patterns build on the paths forged by Matisse, Mouly, and the Fauves. Like Picasso and Tobiasse, the sculptural grows stronger than the pictorial. Tarkay constructs a perspective and then takes it away. The paintings go through an abstract transformation, the perspective dissolves into colors and shapes, her face remains, and the world reconstructs around her. She is the natural woman – satisfied, calm, and serene. There is an ancient mystery in the work of Tarkay that must be discovered for oneself. This is what Tarkays paintings achieve. Tarkays fertile female form is a timeless enigma. The poses that Tarkays figures manifest are every bit as classical as The Winged Victory or Venus de Milo. Tarkay dives deep into history, and brings up pearls for our times. The quality of his line is organic, the quality of his woman, his art, is magic. And there you can search all of my auctions. 1700’s Cuzco School Antique Oil Painting on Original Canvas
Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y u. Na rama de palma. (“Holy Virgin and Infant with a Palm Leaf”). Peruvian Cuzco School, Antique Baroque Oil Painting on Original Canvas, c. Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma – Oil on original canvas – excellent good original condition, as shown. A quintessential motif of the Cuzco School was the depiction of the the Virgin Mary. In the oil painting offered today, we see the devoted Blessed Virgin, posing in a garden landscape with the Christ Child, while bearing a palm lead. Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma is a strikingly beautiful, albeit somber, rendition of a theme oft seen in the ancient paintings of the Cuzco School. The Cuzco School was an artistic tradition based in Cuzco, Peru during the Colonial period, in the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. When the Spaniards conquered the Inca Empire in 1534, the artistic systems of the Spanish soon followed. The Spanish desire to convert the indigenous peoples to the beliefs of western Catholicism resulted equally in the inculcation of the current artistic forms into a religious artistic outpouring, which however was highly influenced by the indigenous and Indian peoples. The Cuzco School of Painting, one of the most important in American Art, began in the town of Cuzco, Peru – a city which was the capital of the Incan Empire and has existed for nine centuries. It spread across all of the Andean area as an aesthetic expression of society. The Cuzco School paintings were typically of religious topics, and chiefly utilized bold bright colors and gold leaf. A quintessential motif of the Cuzco School was the depiction of the the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child. In the oil painting offered today, Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma, we see the devoted Virgin and the Christ Child, set in a garden landscape with the far right background displaying a riverside or lakeside view in the distance. The palm branch is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace and eternal life originating in the ancient Near East and Mediterranean world. The palm was sacred in Mesopotamian religions, and in ancient Egypt represented immortality. In Judaism, a closed frond of the date palm is part of the festival of Sukkot. A palm branch was awarded to victorious athletes in ancient Greece, and a palm frond itself is one of the most common attributes of Victory personified in ancient Rome. In Christianity, the palm branch is associated particularly with Palm Sunday, when according to Christian tradition palm branches were waved at the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It was adopted into Christian iconography to represent the victory of martyrs, or the victory of the spirit over the flesh. Since a victory signals an end to a conflict or competition, the palm developed into a symbol of peace, as shown in today’s painting, Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma. Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma measures 26 inches x 19 1/2 inches framed, and 22 1/2 inches x 15 1/4 inches unframed. Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma is unrestored – wear and condition totally appropriate to age and purpose in life. This painting, coming from an ancient collection, has never been offered before. Please write with any additional questions and/or comments regarding Bendita Virgen con el niño Jesús y una rama de palma , and please inspect my other offerings.
