Landscape and marine painter Albert Babb Insley was born in 1842, growing up in Jersey City, New Bersey. He was active early in the arts. At age fourteen in 1856, he received his first major painting commission of the Llewellyn Park Estate of D. Otis; and the same year he left school to become an apprentice photographer under his father, Henry Earle Insley, who was one of the earliest pioneer photographers in America. In 1860, at age 18, Insley made his first of many painting trips to the Green and White Mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire and to the Shawangunk Mountains of New York. When only twenty-five, Insley began exhibiting on a regular basis at the National Academy of Design in New York City, having exhibited 36 times from 1862 to 1898. He continued his artistic studies, even as an exhibiting artist, with the well-known Jasper Cropsey in 1864 and 1865. By the early 1860’s he was an art instructor with Henry L. Hillyer at New York University, Waverly Place, New York City. He was also a long-time exhibitor from 1869 to 1891 at the Brooklyn Art Association. In New York City, he lived and worked at the Tenth Street Studio Building for 48 years. He also took regular painting trips North of the city and across the Hudson River in New Jersey, as well as in the New England states. He also painted view of New York Harbor, Staten Island and Bayonne, New Jersey. In the early 1880’s Insley’s work reflected the influence of the Barbizon School of France. Insley took an art class on glazing techniques with George Inness Sr. Who influenced hi to become looser and more expressive. During the summers of 1864 and 1865, he studied landscape painting with Jasper Francis Cropsey at his home on Greenwood Lake, which caused him to lighten his palette. The long-lived artist died in Nyack New York in 1937 at age 95. His memberships included the Boston Arts Club, Brooklyn Art Association, Nanuet Painters and Sculptors Guild, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Salmagundi Club. His collections include the Archives of American Art, Washington, D. Cragsmoor Free Library, New York; Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington; Harding Museum, Chicago; Jersey City Museum, New Jersey; Preservation Society, Newport, Rhode Island; and the Rockland Historical Society, New York. Angelo Ingargiola Modern Abstract Surrealism Original Acrylic On Canvas Pop Art
Wonderful Estate Sale Find! Angelo Ingargiola Modern Abstract Surrealism Original Acrylic On Canvas. Medium Painting – Acrylic On Canvas A unique image blending cubism, surrealism and abstract qualities. It’s an imaginative venture into pop culture. Size: 24 X 30. Condition report; this painting has 2 small issues not visible from the front of the image. It appears as if someone did a touch up on the canvas (could have been the artist I don’t know). Please see photos, if you need additional photos please ask. Angelo Ingargiola was born in Carini Sicily in 1942, and came to the U. With his family when he was only 14 years of age. By the age of 17 he had already owned his own furniture business in Brooklyn N. After moving to the west coast of Florida in 2000 at the age of 58 he decided to try his hand at a new passion, Art. Relaxed and at ease in the small well known town of Tarpon Springs all of Angelo’s creative energies and thoughts began to flow. Having worked his whole life, the prospect of sitting around and simply admiring the beautiful landscape was not an option. One glorious day he became inspired by a photo of one of his beloved grandchildren, and picked up a brush in hopes of creating his vision. Self taught, feeling too impatient to take lessons, Angelo has jumped above and beyond most with a vision unique to many. His early works inspired by things he saw has grown to images that come straight from the soul. Working primarily in acrylics on canvas, his unique styles delves into mixed media using natural earth elements. Blending abstract, cubism and impressionist themes, incorporating textures such as shells and palm fronds his work is unlike any that art lovers have seen. Vivid colorful images flow from his like vibrations echoing throughout the universe. Angelo explains’there is no time to stop and think’, just the time to meticulously complete these whimsical and awe inspiring images. The innate ability to incorporate styles reflective of old world elegance and South American folk art…. Angelo transcends the preconception of genre and time. Warm colors and dazzling earth tones bleed into bold and vibrant imagery that provoke different emotions as the viewer gazes upon the pieces. It has been said that art is in the eyes of the beholder, and if you believe this to be true, you must see first hand the work of Mr. Photos alone of Angelo’s work cannot capture the texture, depth nor color schemes that are present in all the paintings. Angelo is a painter of the’mind’ and not only what is in his, but appealing to what is contained in the minds of everyone. There is truly something great for everyone to discover in the visions of Angelo Ingargiola. Angelo Ingargiola joined Fine Art America on December 20th, 2009. Thank you for looking!
