Beautiful oil painting on canvas of noted American artist Robert William Wood (1889 – 1979) most probably done during his Laguna Beach, CA residency period in the 1960’s. Depicting an almost glowing sunset reflected in the waves of the outgoing tide. It is signed on front lower right corner, Robert Wood’66. Also hand signed, “Robert Wood” (under frame), and titled, “TIDE’S OUT”, in black paint on the back of canvas. Dimensions of canvas are 16″ X 20″. Matted with cream colored linen. Elaborate, ornate gold wash wood frame. Dimensions of frame are 25″ X 29″. Frame stamped with LARRY KRONQUIST 362 N. COASTAL BLVD LAGUNA BEACH, CA. Obtained from estate sale in October 2017. Information from estate representative was that “owner bought the painting from an art gallery while visiting California many years ago”.
