Beautiful Original Oil Painting by world famous listed artist, Marie Charlot. Size of artwork is: 24″ x 48″ Framed size is approximately: 32″ x 56″. Signed by Artist Condition of the painting is very good. It does have a few very small areas right in the center where some of the paint has chipped away from the canvas. It would be very easy to touch up with a small brush and a tiny amount of oil paint. The frame shows some wear, but still looks very good and is fully functional. D’Alessandro was born in Italy in 1943, the daughter of an Italian diplomat from Brazil. She studied art in Rome and when her father became consul in Brazil she continued her studies there. The paintings by D’Alessandro have been exhibited in the united states since 1967 with great success. Paintings by D’Alessandro have been on permanent exhibit with the Arnot art dealers in New York since 1967. Her work is well- know in Europe and Latin America as well. D’Alessandro also used nom de plume for subject matter that differed from her typical subject matter of her D’Alessandro paintings including: Goodridge, Humes, Montand, Renot, Marlo, Mitchell, la Boete, Bisset, Lapin, la Vie. It is not very often that people ask me what it is that inspired my paintings. I find this question to be very thoughtful and inspiring for my paintings in the future. Growing up in Italy I was surrounded by ports with beautiful boats constantly coming and going. My father and I would often go down to the harbors to look at all of the different boats there. It was at that time that I developed my love of boats, and wanted to capture their beauty on canvas. It inspires me as an artist to know that my paintings are appreciated by the people who see them in the galleries and take them home to share their beauty. D’Alessandro retired from painting after severe bouts with Lyme’s Disease which left her with extreme pain in her joints and has since kept her from her painting studio. Rodrigue is mostly known for his signature BLUE DOG artwork series. The inspiration for George Rodrigue’s BLUE DOG artwork series came from his pet dog named Tiffany that he owned when he was a child. Rodrigue took the Blue Dog through numerous phases of development, eventually using the image to comment on life today. George Rodrigue didn’t begin his career with the BLUE DOG artwork series, Rodrigue first began painting works that represented his cajun background. These Rodrigue artworks included scenes of people or houses in the swamp or bayou. Before Rodrigue’s death in 2013 he reverted back to his beginnings and continued his cajun themed artworks. Urbain Huchet was born in Rennes, France on April 28, 1930 After studying law and owning a textile factory for four years, he decided in 1960 to devote himself entirely to painting. Huchet spent his first three years as an artist in Port-Aven, following in the footsteps of Gaugin and Emile Bernard, both of whom influenced him a great deal. He does many paintings of the landscape and the typical people of this region. His love of the Brittany coast and the sea can always be seen in his work. After moving to Paris in 1963, he spent time painting and writing in Europe, the Middle East and South America, where his inspiration from the markets, peoples and landscapes have become very well known. He made 14 trips of more than 4 months each, from Mexico to Brazil, via Peru, Central America and the Caribbean islands. A luxurious portfolio of lithographs of Egypt shows his love of that country. Urbain Huchet has held exhibitions throughout the world, however Paris is where his largest number of works have been produced. At least 300 editions of lithographs have been printed of his works, all produced by the artist himself in different workshops in Paris and Cannes. Huchet died in 2014.
