Hans Zatzka (Austrian 1859-1945) Madonna & Child Antique Original Oil Painting
Igned by the artist with one of his pseudonym H. This pseudonym is one of several pseudonyms used by the artist Hans Zatzka to circumvent the exclusionary contracts many 19th century art dealers and galleries forced their artists to sign. It was not unusual for popular artists to have contracts at various galleries under different names; this enabled them to offer their works in different venues without breaking any legally binding agreements. Zatzka studied from 1877 to 1882 at Vienna Art Academy by Christian Griepenkerl and Carl von Blaas. Beeing a student at the Academy, he was awarded with a Gold Füger-Medal. In modern times his paintings are very much thought after by collectors and institutions worldwide. Signed and dated 1886. Measurements: approximately: 31 1/2″ x 25″ (79 cm x 63 cm) painting dimensions. 110 cm x 95. The painting is in good antique condition! Carved wood frame has some minor losses and signs of age. Itzchak Tarkay (1935 June 3, 2012) was an Israeli artist. Tarkay was born in 1935 in Subotica, on the Yugoslav-Hungarian border. In 1944, Tarkay and his family were sent to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp. Until Allied liberation freed them a year later. In 1949, his family emigrated to Israel. Living in a kibbutz. Tarkay attended the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. From 1951, and graduated from the Avni Institute of Art and Design. His art is influenced by French Impressionism. His work was exhibited at the International Art Expo in New York City. In 1986 and 1987. He has been the subject of three books, published by Dr. Perry Art Gallery And Park West Gallery, his dealer. His art is focussed on almost dream images of elegant women in classical scenes which draw you into an imaginary world. Itzchack Tarkay married Bruria Tarkay and had two sons, Adi and Itay Tarkay.
