Has certificate of authenticity. Maurizio BattiforaArtist StatementMaurizio Battifora The Pointillist Italian born, much of Battifora’s inspiration comes from baroque and renaissance painters. He is fascinated by the exaggerated motion, drama and tension in the old masters’ works. He is also influenced by the artistic style of Gustav Klimt. Battifora studied art, but his own empirical and intuitive development drove his evolution as an artist to that of a figurative pointillist. He attempts to communicate in his work through subtle storytelling. His main body of work consists of small to large dots of acrylic on canvas and is more graphic and bold to the eye, than Seurat’s pointillism of an earlier age. Battifora’s technique requires extreme discipline and many focused hours to each of his series of paintings. Battifora’s time consuming technique vibrates with every stroke of the brush. The image grows and takes shape as I juxtapose the dots of acrylics over the canvas. The three dimensional mosaic effect gives the painting movement and brings it to life. A small painting might take 40 to 80 hours of work. I want to communicate directly with the viewer, as if they are part of the painting and not simply a spectator. I greatly appreciate those who contemplate my work and provide opinions. To me that’s when Art closes the circle.
