English style hunting dogs oil painting…. Gorgeous ornate gilded wood frame. Painting is not signed or dated. 32-1/4″ wide x 28-1/4″ high x 2-1/2 deep. Visible canvas measures 23″x19-1/2″. No damage on the painting/canvas noted. Frame has some surface cracks along the inner decorative border…. See pictures for example and an approx. 2 long split running horizontally on the back of the top frame… Does not affect the integrity of the frame and is also not visible when hang. Dimensions: 23 x 20 inches without frame. 26 x 23 inches with frame. Description: Oil on canvas. Fine impressive view from the artists garden and private residence. Framed in its authentic 20th century salon frame. A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work. Condition: Ready to hang. In good condition with no holes, tears or missing paint. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the age. The original frame has minor scratches due to the age. Karen Jensen (1903) Female pioneer. Blue Foxglove at the artists garden. Both were unmarried and born in Holbaek, Denmark. She attended the art school of Emil Rannows around the 1920s. The Rannow school were for female artists who wanted to prepare to enter the Royal Art Academy or work with décor for the Royal Copenhagen porcelain company. Arthur Cohen Original Painting Provincetown Cape Cod 16 x 12. 1990+/
It is titled, Provincetown and was done in the late 1990s but is undated but signed in two places. Size is 16 x 12. It has been kept in a heated and cooled and smoke free environment. The painting is in excellent shape, including the handmade frame. Born in 1928, Cohen grew up in the Bronx and drew prodigiously as a child. After the war he took classes at Cooper Union and the Arts Students League. He remained in New York City his entire life with the exception of summer stints in Provincetown. Considering himself an outsider to New Yorks 50s and 60s art scene, Cohen painted to please himself. His modest interiors of his wife Elizabeth, an accomplished concert pianist, capture the elegance and intensity of intimate music-making silhouetted against a flood of reflected light. His iconic Provincetown landscapes are filaments of land wedged between expanses of sea and sky depicting a place outside time. Cohen died in 2012. His legacy is a body of work built of transparent layers of paint and thought, allowing us to believe that the moment will go on forever. Lovely large impressionist original oil on canvas painting. Very tranquil, depicting a charming image of a girl at a beautiful beach cove scene. Signed by the artist, P. Unglazed and framed in a gold coloured plastic / acrylic type frame – subtle and doesn’t really shout’plastic’ though!! Large size – measures approx 29” x 25” to the outer edge of the frame.
