1916 Original lost Antique Oil on Board, Signed Picasso
1916 Original lost Antique Oil on Board, Signed Picasso. This 1916 dated and original signature Picasso is on the reverse, we turned it around in the frame, but originally someone named Jean Slotnick 1938, painted a painting on the back, we believe to hid this original Picasso from seizure by the Nazi Army in 1938. The board is consistent with 1916 canvas board. This is not the first flip around work we have found in this collection and further research indicates that the Whitings knew several Jewish families from Europe. We are Pioneer Heroes Museum, of Casa Grande, Arizona. We are liquidating one of the most unique collections of late 19th, early 20th century art that has ever been found, in our opinion. Contained in two large cases, or trunks, this collection is made up of some of the most interesting and artistically significant pieces of art that we believe has been found in recent times. Other pieces are going to us on consignment for sale, or shown in our Museum gallery. By doing so, we hope to raise funds for the supply of our publically supported museum for six months. Most of the paintings seem to be signed Picasso or Vincent. We are liquidating the George Bernard Washington Whiting, Floyd Franklin Smith collection of interwar art from France. For those of you that are not familiar with our gallery and this collection, we’ve been liquidating pieces from this collection for several months, there are several Picasso’s, and other famous artists in this collection, all of which was found in two trunks in the storage area of a northern Arizona home. The Whitings settled in northern Arizona after World War II. Floyd Franklin Smith and the Whitings traveled extensively to Europe, and collected art from famous artists, and some not so famous, and brought them home on the rail line to northern Arizona. This outstanding antique, all original oil on canvas board, dated 1916 Picasso, has very old varnish, cracking, and was clearly turned around in the 1938 era frame, to hid it. Harvey Joiner, Original Oil Painting on Board of Kentucky Beech Woods
Original, circa late 1800s to early 1900s, American Impressionist en plein air oil painting on canvas board by listed Artist, Harvey Joiner. Two conceptual constructs simultaneously, depth and elevation. The great sense of depth and perspective experienced when standing at the edge of a forest and looking down a line of adjacent trees. To achieve this, Joiner placed rows of towering beech treesleaning towards each other across a narrow gap in the forestin a consistent pattern, diminishing the size of the tree from foreground to rear ground as a means of enhancing the illusion of space and depth. The subliminal suggestion of transcendental elevation that viewing experience conveys to the viewers consciousness. To elevate the viewing experience to a transcendental level, he deployed a lateral light to pierce the space between the trees, imbuing them with a sense of motion. Original Dave Stirling Oil on Board Painting Rose Aspens Nice Condition
Based primarily in the Estes Park, Colorado area, he painted primarily in the Rocky Mountain National Park. He worked exclusively in oils and painted on board for the most part. He was perhaps most well known for his colorful aspen paintings of which this is a fine example. The artwork here measures approximately 14″ x 21 1/2″. The framed size is about 18 1/2 x 26. It is artist signed in the lower right hand corner. It is nicely framed in a gold frame and the back is covered with a black backing paper. A note on the back shows the name of this painting to be Rose Aspens. This painting along with the frame are both in excellent condition, and it is ready to hang on your wall for years of enjoyment. In 1997 with my parents I moved to Yerevan, Armenia where I got a Bachelor degree in Art and Design from Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts. After getting my degree in 2009, I moved to Los Angeles, California for permanent residence, where I continued my art education. Currently I hold an Associate degree in Studio Arts, Art History and BA in Art and Design. I’m an independent artist, professional printmaker and educator. Although I’m a big fan of contemporary art, I consider myself as an abstract expressionist. I often combine several mediums, such as oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Weidhofer was in the German army when captured by the Russians during WWII. While imprisoned for four years, he was taught to paint by a fellow prisoner. After the war he was reunited with his family in Bavaria. He married and in 1954 moved to southern California. For many years he worked as a lab technician for Pomona Tile Company while painting in his leisure. In 1968 he became a full-time artist and began exhibiting his painings in art shows held in malls and parks in southern California and the Southwest. Weidhofer died at his home in Pine Grove, CA on Nov. Best known for his desert landscapes, some of his works are signed Karl von Weidhofer.
