Samuel Veksler was born in Vitebsk, Russia where he was heavily influenced by the work of his fellow townsmen Chagall, Perelman and Frenkel. He specialise in cubist masterpieces including portrait and still life. The artist studied art at the Fine Art Institute of Vitebsk and lives in St Petersburg where he has a studio. His works are in collections worldwide and are extremely sought after. This is one of his largest and most beautiful paintings. VTG ORIGINAL 1960s LISTED FILIPINO ARTIST ROGER SAN MIGUEL CUBIST OIL ON CANVAS
Born on September 12, 1940, San Miguel is considered the “Father of Filipino Impressionism” and is perhaps the most noted Filipino artist of the century. He was a Pioneer in the Mabini Art Movement that developed out of the 1950s and is identified with a group of artists who set up their works on Mabini Street in Manila. This particular work of his, in the Mid Century Cubist form, is one his earlier pieces and probably was done at an early age in the late 1950s to very early 1960s. Subject is a Still Life of a Fish and several pieces of Fruit. In Excellent Condition with absolutely no holes, rips, scratches, repairs, etc. It is signed in the lower right in the fish plate.
