Botanical painting on canvas original art, Orchid, purple, blue, green, 7×9
Floral painting featuring orchids and botanicals from the NYC Orchid show and the New York Botanical Garden. This piece was shown in my most recent solo show as a part of a series of similar sized works. All of these smaller pieces are made using Flashe Liquid Vinyl, a paint used in set design due to its bright rich colors yet lack of glare. The velvety texture of this paint, to me, mimics that of flower petals. Vibrant colors, primarily blues and greens, with hints of pastel hues, are meant to bring calming yet lively energies into the spaces the works inhabit.
