NICE 19th C. ANTIQUE OIL ON CANVAS ORIGINAL PAINTING, SLEEPING CHILD & CHERUBS
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a very nice antique oil on canvas painting of a young boy sitting asleep with a newspaper and cherubs watching from above holding a bag of gold coins. The painting is beautifully hand painted with intricate details. The canvas is in very good condition showing minor wear from normal wear commensurate with age. No chips or flaking on canvas. The painting is framed with a nice carved wood frame with gold leaf finish. The frame is in fair condition with some minor signs of normal wear again commensurate with age. No other noted flaws. The frame measures 13 5/8″ long and 11 5/8″ wide. Site measures 9 3/4″ long and 7 3/4″ wide. Beautiful Antique Oil Painting with period matching frame. Shows a boy sitting on a bench, while whittling a piece of wood. Estimated Age: mid to late 1800’s. Size of Artwork: 12″ x 18″. Framed Size: 17″ x 23″. Condition: I personally would say that the Painting is in Very Good condition, considering it’s age. It does show some natural color fading, light scratches, light scuffs, all of which should be completely expected for a piece of this age. The frame is in “old/used” condition, with natural wear, blemishes, scratches, nicks, etc.. Original George Riecke Oil on Canvas Landscape with Sheep Signed 19th Cent
Signed lower right corner. Painting is in overall good condition. Frame included appears to be the original frame. The frame does some has some wear and tear from over the years, but please consider the frame to be a bonus to this painting. Canvas measures 10″ x 14″. Frame measures 14 1/4″ x 18 1/4″. Little is known about this artist, a painter of rural landscape, except that he was active in New Orleans between 1887 and 1902 and was a member of the Artists Association of New Orleans. In 1900, he exhibited his work at the National Academy of Design in New York.
