ARTIST STATEMENT: Tropical Nature The proximity to the forests of the Samaná canyon and the Rio Claro in Antioquia, captured my attention since I was a child, which havefed my creative process, its color, its temperature, its strength and its social context, have served as references for theconstruction of a plastic proposal that not only speaks of beauty, but of the territory and its views. On my personal tour ofthese forests, of my nearby territory, I have found diverse states of this vegetable nature that represents my states howliving being historical. The hours of the day bring with them a new light that reveals before my eyes the stages of life itself made Colour. The emotion reaches my hands and my mind every time I evoke the landscapes that as a child I used to walk next to my mother, while my eyesthey were flying after a blue morpho butterfly, watching it hide in that great green canvas that flooded my eyes. My work is an evocation of my history but also of the Colombian tropics, of its natural wealth, its biodiversity, howjoy of its people. The Colombian landscape is a great rainbow of chromatic possibilities, where the palette moves in the color of thethe same way light does. Painting offers endless possibilities, which intertwined with the richness of forms and emotions that it providesgo into the forest; It allows us to pour out the deepest emotions that we carry inside. The creation of a pictorial alphabetthrough texture, color and gesture evokes everything that passes before my eyes as instantaneous appearances, whichI wish to capture in each work, how a declaration of its existence and resistance to the passage of time and man.
