An iconic Abstract Expressionist image, will enhance any interior or serious art collection. Piet Mondrian is recognized for the purity of his abstractions and methodical practice by which he arrived at them. He radically simplified the elements of his paintings to reflect what he saw as the spiritual order underlying the visible world, creating a clear, universal aesthetic language within his canvases. In his best known paintings from the 1920s, Mondrian reduced his shapes to lines and rectangles and his palette to fundamental basics pushing past references to the outside world toward pure abstraction. His use of asymmetrical balance and a simplified pictorial vocabulary were crucial in the development of modern art, and his iconic abstract works remain influential in design and familiar in popular culture to this day. With the present painting and the ensuing variants, produced over the course of three exceptionally productive years, Mondrian refined these means to the highest degree, attaining a level of purity and balance that would remain virtually unsurpassed in his subsequent oeuvre, as he began instead to explore denser and more syncopated rhythms. The refined and harmonious balance that Mondrian painstakingly sought and achieved in this sequence of paintings is far more than merely a formal exercise. Rather, the canvases represented for the artist a microcosm of his utopian vision of the world. Balance through the equivalence of nature and mind, of that which is individual and that which is universal, of the feminine and the masculinethis general principle of Neo-Plasticism can be achieved not only in plastic art, but also in man and society, Mondrian wrote in The General Principles of Neo-Plasticism. Auctioning an original oil, on canvas painting, signed Mark Rothko w COA
MARK ROTHKO RECTANGULAR COMPOSITION. Auctioning unique, expressive color field, oil on canvas painting of a rectangular composition, signed Mark Rothko in the lower right and verso. Approximate height: 29.7 cm. Approximate width: 24.9 cm. Label and stamp on verso. This artwork was acquired in a folio of paintings and screenprints from UK, the artwork is accompanied with registration certificate at National Fine Arts Registry, with a letter of description, COA, with transfer of ownership letter and transfer of registration certificate to the new owner, artwork is currently presented and described as in manner of the artist, as is, as was acquired. An iconic Abstract Expressionist image, will enhance any interior or serious art collection. A prominent figure among the New York School painters, Mark Rothko moved through many artistic styles until reaching his signature 1950s motif of soft, rectangular forms floating on a stained field of color. Rothko reduced the number of forms in his pictures, and grew them such that they filled out the canvas, hovering on fields of stained colour that are only visible at their borders. These, his best known works, have come to be called his “sectionals”, and Rothko felt they better met his desire to create universal symbols of human yearning. His paintings were not self-expressions, he claimed, but statements about the condition of man. The all-over compositions, the blurred boundaries, the continuousness of color, and the wholeness of form were all elements of his development towards a transcendental experience of the sublime, Rothko’s goal. Deliveries are by national postal service. All items are handled and packed with care. Approximate width: 29.6 cm. An iconic Modernist expressiveimage, will enhance any interior or serious art collection. Adored by collectors but often derided by critics and contemporaries, French painter and illustrator Bernard Buffet courted controversy from the moment he burst on to the Paris scene in the years following the Second World War. Buffets style changed little between his early work in series such as The Horrors of War (1955) and later paintings such as Sumo Rikishi (1980-1). By the 1950s success had transformed this archetype of the Left Bank existentialist into a world-famous artist-celebrity who travelled by Rolls-Royce and holidayed at his chateau in Provence. Buffet had developed a distinctive style of elongated, spiky forms, somber colors and flattened spaces. His signature black outline reduced reality to the point of abstract. Auctioning an original oil, on canvas painting, signed Egon Schiele w COA & DOCS
Auctioning unique, expressive gestural self-portrait, oil on canvas painting, signed Egon Schiele in the lower right margin. Approximate height: 24.8 cm. Approximate width: 30.0 cm. Label and stamp on verso. This artwork was acquired in a folio of paintings and drawings from Germany, the artwork is accompanied with registration certificate at National Fine Arts Registry, with a letter of description, COA, with transfer of ownership letter and transfer of registration certificate to the new owner, artwork is currently presented and described as in manner of the artist, as is, as was acquired. An iconic Expressionist image, will enhance any interior or serious art collection. Egon Schiele was a famous Austrian painter, famous for being influenced by the works of Gustav Klimt and pioneering into the art of expressionism. Despite Egon Schiele’s short life, the artist produced an astonishing number of works on canvas and paper. He was instrumental in formulating the character of early twentieth-century Expressionism, characterized by the use of irregular contours, an often somber palette, and frequently dark symbolism. He is still remembered for his outrageously bold and sexual drawings, the portraits of nude models and himself. The sexual undertone in his work was highly criticized during his time, was called vulgar and grotesque but today they are considered as masterpieces. Schiele’s aesthetic greatly influenced both Expressionist contemporaries like Oskar Kokoschka, as well as Neo-Expressionist successors as varied as Francis Bacon, Julian Schnabel, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Unlike his mentor, Klimt, with whom Schiele’s name remains most commonly associated, he produced a great number of self-portraits, suggesting a preoccupation with the self on a par with the likes of Picasso. Schiele’s self-portraits are extraordinary not only for the frequency with which the artist depicted himself, but for the manner in which he did so: eroticized depictions where he often appears in the nude, in highly revealing posesmale self-portraits virtually unparalleled in the history of Western art. Deliveries are by national postal service. All items are handled and packed with care. The item “Auctioning an original oil, on canvas painting, signed Egon Schiele w COA & DOCS” is in sale since Sunday, February 19, 2017.
