Antique FEDERAL GENTLEMAN Folk Oil Portrait Painting GOLD Gilt Frame c1830-40s
Here is a very nice antique gentleman oil portrait painting. It is framed in its original gilt gold , heavy compo/gesso frame. The man has a Napoleon style hair cut and a dark blue jacket on. His inner vest is a light blue and his. The entire piece measures 18 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. The canvas only measures 12 1/8 x 13 7/8 in. Fair/good as is vintage condition. Some gilt paint overlay chipped/worn off in spots. Painting has mild crazing, nail hole thru top right, and bottom right. I say all this but the item dates to the 1830-40s so almost 200 years old soon. Not new, not perfect. The man is painted in a folk art style. All pictures to judge condition. Baroque / Surrealist Antique Oil Painting of Giraffe in large gilt frame
This is a thrift store find; provenance unknown. It appears to have been recently framed. Frame is heavy and in excellent condition. Painting is of indeterminate age and authorship, but is also in excellent shape. To me, it looks like something that would have been done in the 1960s – 70s — strikes me as something an eccentric film / music producer would have in their Beverly Hills mansion during that era. Painting measures approximately 20×30″ and is framed to 27.5 x 36.5″ Painting is on canvas, which appears to have been adhesive-mounted on board or foam core. Antique Original Oil on Canvas Landscape with Deer in Aesthetic Gilt Gesso Frame
Up for sale is this exceptional antique original oil painting landscape on canvas depicting a stream flowing through the mountains and trees with a frolicking family of deer and flying birds/ducks. This is a beautiful piece with lovely execution and great rich autumnal colors expressed in the reds browns and oranges of the foliage. The painting dates from approximately the 1890s and is set in a gold gilt gesso and wood frame in the aesthetic movement style with flourished edges and trim. The frame has a beautiful worn patina with damages and chips revealing the layers beneath the gold and giving the painting a great eclectic look. The painting due to its age could use a cleaning and could be re-varnished to bring out the true brilliance of the colors. There is a small puncture hole in the leaves of one of the trees on the right side of the canvas as can be seen in the photos the hole measures 1/8. The frame measures 22″ x 19 1/4″.
