Christ Italian Renaissance Old Master 18thC Large Fine Antique Oil Painting
Christ and The Two Sybils, Italian Religious Old Master 18th Century Large Fine Antique Oil Painting. A very fine and monumental oil on canvas depiction of Christ in a Temple with the Two Sybils, the Cumean Sybil and the Tiburtine Sybil. Unsigned, 18th century Italian School, beautifully painted with open and clear detail of the three figure’s features and clothing. In excellent condition, h oused in a fine gilt frame, ready to hang. Please note the large image dimensions of approximately: 47 1/4” x 31” (120cm x 79cm). Recently cleaned and re-varnished by our specialist and long established art conservator here in Norfolk. The present art being a post-prophetic painting showing Christ with the Cumean Sybil and the Tiburtine Sybil, both of whom prophesied the life and reign of Christ. Both women are shown here looking at each other as a realisation and confirmation of their respective prophecies. In my own collection and formerly with a private Gloucestershire collection. Up for sale is an antique 19-century oil painting on canvas laid on board depicting a genre scene – an Italian boy carrying wine jugs. The painting is presented in a period ornate gold frame. The frame is in good condition. The painting has some dirty areas and scuffs. Please see the photos, they are part of the description. The reverse of the canvas depicts the antique framing clasps known as Shattuck (dated February 1883 – June 1885), invented in 1883 by Aaron Draper Shattuck, a 19th-century painter living in the northeast. An imposing and fresh to market 18th century Italian oil on canvas laid to board depicting a man and semi-naked woman in an interior. A finely and dramatically painted evocation of Carlo Cignani’s 1678 painting,”Joseph and the Wife of Potiphar”, from Genesis 39. The male subject appears here fully clothed and his female tempter is semi-naked and embracing him whilst he throws his hands up to heaven in desperation. Giordano Giovanetti Signed Italian Oil Painting X-large
Giordano Giovanetti was born in 1906 in Ancona. Two years after, he opened a studio in Paris together with Carlo Carcher, son of the famous painter Giuseppe Cherubini. From France he moved to Austria, then to Hungary and Poland. In 1931, he held his first exhibition in the area. He then started roaming through Romania painting portraits, landscapes and making decorations at the Monastery of Sibiu until 1935. He was compelled to return to his homeland because of the Ethiopian war. At this time frame of his life, he had created more than 300 portraits among them those of Carol and Michele of Romania, actors Viviani, Petrolini and Gandusio, Mascagni and many other important persons. Masterful Original Antique Painting Giuseppe Musumeci 1902-? Up for your consideration, is an Original Antique Painting by LISTED Italian Artist Guiseppe Musumeci 1902-? It’s a gorgeous Impressionistic/Tonalist painting featuring the Bay at Night in Naples, Italy. It’s signed in the lower right in his characteristic fashion and was probably done sometime in the 1930’s or early 1940’s. It is a Medium-sized piece and the measurements are 31″ by 23″ including the frame.
