Antique 16C-17C Giant Baroque Portrait Oil on Canvas ing receives a Messenger
Painting is for sale WITHOUT FRAME!! This Giant Portrait was acquired in the old castle of the 17th century “Häringe slott” (Södermanland). The painting depicts a scenic scene, The king receives a messenger with the news… A beautiful piece from the early Baroque period, preserved in good condition and ready to decorate your interior! Provenance: Sweden / “Häringe slott”. Creation period: Late 16th – early 17th Century. Motive and style: Baroque. Technique (creation media): Oil painting on canvas. Good condition, Unframed, wear, repairs, retouches, cleaning, conservation. Size in centimeters (metric): 205 x 114 cm. Measurements in inches (roughly): 80,7 x 44,9 in. Gross weight /dimensional: 12 kg. In its modern form “Häringe slott” was built in the 1650s and was completed in 1657, but there are older ancestors. The early Iron Age cemetery is located in the forest south of the castle, and the castles runway contains a rune stone, runic inscriptions of Sodermanland 239. According to the legend, this is the site of the Battle of Sotasar against Sote 1007 Vikings in Snorra Sturlasson in the Olav saga. In 1502, Haring was burned by the Danish king Hans and his servants. In 1625, when Gustav II Adolf transferred this castle to his field marshal Gustaf Horn. On the foundation of the old wooden castle 1650s Gustaf Horn built the current castle. After the death of Gustaf Horn in 1657, the castle inherited their daughter Agneta. When attacked in 1681, Cronan captured the Häringe, but was expelled after his release by Agnetas son, Gustav Kruus, along with Klas Fleming and Fabian Wrede. In 1769, the castle was bought by Major General Fabian Leven and became their residence. A number of countries have partially closed their borders to passenger traffic, which means that a large portion of the air traffic has been stopped. This is giving rise to restrictions in transport capacity, and thus problems transporting parcels and letters to large parts of the world.
