The rich empowered paintings of the artist Shelly Inez Lependorf convey through form, line and color the balance and harmony of the natural world. Lependorf deftly synthesizes a variety of interests, materials and influences. Since the early nineties, her work has embraced classic abstract expressionism’s leanings toward Asian philosophical and esthetic precepts. Lependorf often utilizes elements, full of “controlled abandon, ” that present a counterpoint to the orderliness of structural elements creating a balance of opposites. The work is richly layered while retaining a sense of space or breath that reaches for the spirit, connecting on an intimate level. Her work is full of knowledgeable painting strategies and free flowing playful contradictions. The ongoing analysis of contemporary life as it crosses the boundaries of time and space underlies the complex richness of this artist’s work. She creates a new reality in each work, engaging the viewer through the mystery of the process with a skilled sensitivity to light and composition. Her work contains the impact and power of formal integrity and inherently good design. She is currently collaborating with Stan Shire on a series of new work. Lependorfs work is included in private and corporate collection throughout the world. If you live elsewhere, contact me for a price. I very much appreciate positive 5 feedback in return!
