Stunning oil on canvas vase of roses, Owen Bowen original
This exquisite oil on canvas is in excellent condition and signed Owen Bowen. It is beautifully framed in a blue wooden frame. Owen Bowen (1873 – 1967) was a painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, flowers and still life. Born in Leeds and educated at Leeds High School. Bowen studied during the evening at Leeds School of Art under Gilbert Foster and later at Foster’s studio in Leeds. Bowen then worked as a pottery designer and a lithographic apprentice before becoming a painter. He painted mainly views and landscapes of his beloved Yorkshire and went on to form the Leeds School of Art; later the Owen Bowen School of Art. He lived at East Keswick, near Leeds and exhibited many of his works at the Royal Cambrian Academy and the Walker Gallery. This is an excellent example of his work. Offered by the family of the original owner. Pal Fried was born June 16, 1893 in Hungary, died March 6, 1976 in New York City. Fried immigrated to the United States in 1946, he lived in Los Angeles and New York. He signed his name Fried Pal with his surname first. World renown artist, his works are much sought after.
