Original Pin Up Painting Donald Rusty Rust Oil on Canvas 24×30 Pinup Gayle
Offered for sale is an original oil on stretched canvas painting by acclaimed pin-up artist Donald “Rusty” Rust. This painting was created by Rust in 2004 and titled Gayle. The size of the piece is 24 x 30. Rust is well known for a variety of accomplishments, one of the most notable his apprenticeship with the Norman Rockwell of pin-up artists Gil Elvgren. The painting is in nice condition with some minor storage wear (see pics – I took quite a few of them). “Rusty” Rust (born 1932) is an American artist. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is acclaimed among pin-up art collectors. Primarily a realist, Rust’s preferred medium is oil on canvas and his subjects range from wildlife, scenics, still-life, fantasy, portraits, pin-ups and nudes. Early works concentrated on circus and portrait subjects, including such prominent individuals as Emmett Kelly, Merle Evans (Ringling band leader), and American painter Norman Rockwell. Rust is a prolific and talented Pin-up girl and glamour artist, with over 850 pin-up and nude oil paintings preferring large 30″ x 24″ sized paintings. His career has benefited from the current revival in pinup art, but he continues to paint a variety of subjects. “Men will always love girls, ” he says. Being able to do a variety of subject matter keeps me from going insane. Rust has produced more than 15,000 paintings, some of which hang in the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. Provincetown Oil On Canvas 12×12 Original Oil Painting Plein Air Cape Cod
Provincetown Oil On Canvas 12×12. This iconic view of Provincetown is from Bradford Street looking down to Town Hall. I love how the shadows lay across Bradford Street taking the viewer down to the gradual bend of the rd. I was raised in New York and received my BFA at the School of Visual Arts in 1993. I have an MFA from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. My art practice is informed and inspired by the architecture and surrounding landscape of the New England coastline. I walk in the footsteps of past artist’s like Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer and Edwin Dickenson; all of whom who have been a great influence on my work. I use traditional materials to create my work that have remained unchanged to artists for centuries. Most of my paintings are done in oil on canvas but often I use watercolor to work out complex compositions before committing to my final work. Drawing is an important element of my art practice and a continued passion of mine. I seldom share my drawings but sometimes include preliminary sketches with my paintings because they reveal insight into my process and a greater connection to my work for the patron. Many of my clients are repeat customers, adding paintings to their growing collections and curating the work in their homes. This is what happens to a wall in your home when the right image is placed there. Some feedback from my clients.’Thank you for this lovely painting; what an artist you are!
