Michael Gorban Art Student Original Oil Painting on Canvas, Child Rainbow

Excellent Condition including the Frame. C of A is included. Michael Gorban was born in 1956 in the former Soviet Union. In 1976, Gorban graduated from the Kishinev Higher School for the Painting Arts in Moldavia and in 1982, he graduated from the Academy for Painting in the city of Lvov, majoring in graphics. It is doubtful whether any other artist studied art for 21 years before displaying his paintings on the market. Michael Gorban completed his studies at age 30, with a record behind him of working closely with the finest of Russian artists, and using dozens of painting techniques. At age 30, Gorban received the honor of exhibiting his paintings at an international exhibition beside the likes of Salvador Dalí, Kandinsky, Chagall, and others, in the Hermitage museum in Leningrad. A third of Gorban’s paintings hung in the Hermitage, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious museums, for more than a year. Gorban managed to receive a 140 square meter studio in Moscow from the government. In the national album of Russian art history, Gorban is prominently featured with three of his paintings as one of the young artists to impact the 20th century between 1960 and 1980. “Painting is a sensual experience, ” claims Gorban today from his studio in Petach Tikva, near Tel Aviv. ” Concerning the subtle difference between an artist and a painter, he adds, “An artist can hear what the painting wants; a painter cannot. I never painted under duress or according to order. My success comes from people feeling the same satisfaction that I myself felt upon completing the painting. In 1990, Gorban decided to emigrate to Israel. The fact of his Jewishness had been repressed for years and was unknown to most people. Yet, feeling a special warmth for Israel, Gorban resolved to leave everything behind – the exhibitions, the recognition, the spacious Moscow studio, the summer cottage on the Black Sea – and make the move to Israel. Michael Gorban’s paintings are now displayed in galleries and museums throughout the Soviet Union, as well as private collections in the United States, Canada, England, Japan, Belgium, France, Germany, Australia and Israel. Within the continental United States. The item “Michael Gorban Art Student Original Oil Painting on Canvas, Child Rainbow” is in sale since Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Antique Original Art Oil painting on Canvas T H McKay Child walking by Lock Eck
I couldn’t find out if this was done by Thomas Hill or Thomas Hope McKay, both Scottish painters of this style. Archie Palmer Wigle, he owned an art gallery in Detroit after WWII until his death in 1963. He framed or reframed his in 1957, I think this painting dates from the turn of the century. In great condition for its age, a little dirty, frame has some nicks. Measures with frame 19″ by 24 3/4″. I try to find any defects but I can’t guarantee I’ll see them all. This is an older item and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Bernard de Hoog Mother Nursing Child Original Art Oil on Canvas Dutch 1863-1943
Antique Gilt Wood Framed SIGNED Lower Left. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. De Hoog in his studio. Bernard de Hoog (born November 19, 1867 in Amsterdam, died in The Hague, 1943) was a Dutch painter influenced by the Hague School. Bernard showed talent as a schoolboy, but his request to study art was refused. He spent two or three years working in an office and the merchant who found sketches and drawings instead of figures in the ledgers gave him a commission to make a portrait of his wife. With the merchant’s encouragement, Bernard was sent to a drawing master and afterwards to a drawing academy. The last few years as a student were made easier by his success in gaining the subsidy from the Dutch Queen, which he held for two years. He worked for some time under one of the greatest Dutch animal painters, Jan van Essen, and copied many of the old masters, such as Pieter de Hooch. His painting from nature enabled him to understand the old masters. During the year 1886 De Hoog’s talent became noticed. He had admired the paintings of Jozef Israëls. The first great picture that he exhibited was shown in Amsterdam, entitled’During the Sermon in the new Church’. Soon De Hoog came to be a painter of interiors, because he lived in a village rich in them. He painted interiors for four years, and then migrated to other provinces with his family. His effective talent was by this time fully appreciated, and people understood his originality. Although influenced by the work of Israëls, no one can deny the individuality of De Hoog. De Hoog followed the Hague School, primarily a movement of realism, a reaction against the previous mood of romanticism. He was advocating the simple country life, a happy and innocent atmosphere where children play a major part. He painted many small pictures of the life of the country people, of the homes of the peasants, with the light shining through the ancient windows. De Hoog had a developed mind and excellent taste. In the simple appearance of the simple life of the Dutch people he discovered a beauty of thought which dictated his management of tone, he knew exactly the way to express the sentiment that was in him. His paintings were also readily exported around the world, especially to the US, Canada, and England. De Hoog died at the Hague in 1943. This wonderful original piece Depicts a Mother seated Nursing an Infant by an open window in the countryside. This wonderful piece was acquired from the estate of an art lover and serious collector.
