Irish Townscape Original Painting British Artist John Lawrence Framed On Canvas
Town scene from Kenmare County, Kerry Ireland. See pictures as part of the detailed description. Born in Kent, Lawrence first made a name for himself in the 1960s when he was commissioned by Wilkinson Sword to produce a set of engravings of ceremonial swords. These images were used to advertise razor blades and appeared as weekly full page adverts in many national newspapers. He later illustrated campaigns for Castrol, Princes salmon and Unilever. During the 80s and 90s, Lawrence worked for some major advertisers. He produced illustrations for bank notes and personal cheques and a series of seven Christmas advertisements for Harrods. Lawrence was the illustrator of the original Big Ben logo that appears on HP Sauce an adaptation of which can still be seen on sauce bottles today. In 1993, Lawrence had a heart attack and decided to make some changes to his life so he could concentrate on his oil paintings. Under the tuition of the artist Eddie Franklin, Lawrence was encouraged to develop his painting style. Lawrence has a passion for boats and has been drawing them since he was six. Marine scenes continue to be a big part of Lawrences work along with landscapes and townscapes. Lawrence paints mainly from life and invites viewers of his work to share the moment and feel the cold splash of the sea or the warmth of the sun, which he has skilfully captured on canvas. Lawrence paints full time and his work features in international collections. If you recognize the image, it is probably because of all the prints that have been made of this famous piece/image. It was John Wayne’s film with director John Ford,’Stagecoach’ (1939), that catapulted his acting career and helped make Monument Valley so well-known. This canvas measures 20″ X 24″, and the frame that it’s in is believed to be the original; measuring 27″ x 23″. This really is an impressive piece of American history and there is one quite similar on display at the John Wayne Museum (his birthplace in Winterset, Iowa – born Marion Robert Morrison May 26th, 1907), also painted by Peter Shinn. A much sought after English 19th century artist. Even after restoration cost, will still be a good investment and sure to continue appreciating. Minor damage to frame. Frame size: 24″ x 20″. Canvas size: approximately 16.25″ x 12.25″. (18 Oct 1799 12 Dec 1870). Was an English painter of flowers, landscapes, architecture and marine subjects, and book illustrator. He worked in both. And was a member of the. Society of British Artists. Holland was born in Burslem. Where his father and other members of his family were employed at the pottery. Works of William Davenport. James was himself employed there, from the age of 12, for 7 years, painting flowers on pottery and porcelain. In 1819, he came to London. Where he continued to work as a pottery painter, but also gave lessons in drawing landscapes, architecture, and marine subjects. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy. In 1824 and in 1830 visited France. And made studies of its architecture. In 1823 he exhibited a picture of’London from Blackheath’. In l835 he became an associate exhibitor of The Society of Painters in Water-colours. But he left the society in 1843, and joined the Society of British Artists. Of which he remained a member until 1848. He rejoined the Watercolour Society in 1856, and was elected a full member two years later. Holland did a great deal of drawing for the illustrated annuals. Of the day, and for this purpose visited Venice. In 1836, and Portugal. His paintings of Portugal were published in the book, “The Tourist in Portugal”. In 1839 he exhibited a painting of Lisbon. At the Royal Academy. In 1845 he went to Rotterdam. Portugal again in 1847, in 1850 to Normandy. In 1851 again to Geneva, and in 1857 again to Venice. In the course of his life he exhibited, in addition to his contributions to the Watercolour Society, 32 pictures at the Royal Academy, 91 at the British Institution. And 108 at the Society of British Artists. Though generally classed as a water-colour painter, he was equally skilful in oils. He was one of the finest colourists of the English school, and his pictures, especially those of Venice, though neglected in his lifetime, became much sought after in the years after his death. He appears to have ceased to exhibit in 1857. One of Holland’s pupils was topographical artist Frank Dillon. (18231909) known especially for his paintings of Egypt. ERIC DOERINGER Original 2005 Acrylic/Collage on Canvas. This is an original acrylic and collage on canvas painting by contemporary artist ERIC DOERINGER American, b. An artist who describes himself as making paintings in batches, Eric Doeringer says that his creative process is like an assembly line. He openly copies works by famous artists such as Richard Prince and Lisa Yuskavage. Sometimes he is cited for vending without a license and suspects that the police are called by angry gallery owners. One of these gallery owners describes Doeringer as a bootlegger and opportunist, seeking his 15 minutes of fame. Eric Doeringer was born in Cambridge, MA and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He received a BA in Visual Art from Brown University and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Doeringer has had solo exhibitions at {CTS} Creative Thriftshop (NY), Apex Art (NY), Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects (Toronto, Canada), and Another Year In LA (CA). Doeringer has exhibited in group shows at venues including MUSAC (Spain), The Currier Musuem (NH), The Bruce Museum (CT), Albright College (PA), and Muhlenberg College (PA). Doeringer also curated “The Matthew Barney Show”, an exhibition of Matthew Barney fan art and ephemera, at Jack the Pelican (NY) and boca (San Francisco). In 2007, Doeringer received a production grant from the Whitney Museum’s IPO program. This original acrylic and collage on canvas is from the Bootlegger Series (after John Currin), and is stamped on the stretchers verso with the artist’s signature and date: “Eric Doeringer”. Pallete (Pilar) was born September 3, 1928 into an upper-class family, the daughter of a Peruvian senator in the Paita Port (northern Peru). She married and divorced professional big-game hunter Richard Weldy. She met John Wayne, 21 years her senior, in Lima, Peru, in 1953, while still married to Weldy. Wayne was in Peru scouting locations for The Alamo In 1953, Pallete came to Los Angeles to dub a film in English, when she ran into John Wayne for the second time. Pallete retired from her motion picture career to be a wife and mother to their three children: Aissa, Ethan, and Marisa Wayne. During the next 10 years of their marriage, they traveled extensively, usually on location for John Wayne's many films. In 1965, they moved to Newport Beach, California. She rented a studio inside the Fernleaf Courtyard, in Corona Del Mar, California where she would entertain her clients outdoors with coffee and finger sandwiches and found herself, one year later, with a full-time restaurant. Pallete has created among other works of art, a collection of still nature and beautiful ladies, belly dancers called "Glamour Girls", and group images from the Hollywood world. ANTIQUE OIL ON CANVAS. John Linnell June 16 1792-January 20 1882English Landscape Painter. Linnell was a naturalist, romantic and a rival to John Constable. Painted Northern European art of the Renaissance Period. John Linnell Senior was a landscape and portrait painter. As a young man he became a pupil of John Varley; his fellow students William Mulready and William Henry Hunt became Linnell’s lifelong friends. His further art training took place at the Royal Academy Schools. His early career was principally devoted to portrait painting; subsequently landscapes came to predominate in his output. John Linnell was a close friend of William Blake and became father-in-law to Samuel Palmer. In the course of his long career Linnell enjoyed friendly relations with many other artists, including the much younger generation of the Pre-Raphaelites. Linnell’s landscapes are taken in the English countryside and often include figures and animals. They have a balance of composition and proportion, which allows one to associate Linnell with the European tradition of landscape classicism. Christopher Newall Linnell lived in London until 1852 when he moved to Redhill in Surrey, where he remained for the last thirty years of his life. Power Struggle, 1906 (This painting is similar to a painting in his book) T. He size of the painting is 13 3/8 x 17 1/2, signed lower left Tex Moore with Longhorn Monogram. Overall size of the framed piece is 20 x 24 1/4 Please enlarge photograhs to more carefully review the painting’s condition. Tex lived a very interesting life as a true cowboy of over 40 years, a Texas Ranger and an artist that was declared by the Texas Legislature under HCR No. 48 to be the Official Cowboy Artist of Texas back in April of 1935. He was self-taught, but always admired the art of Thomas Moran, and Moran’s influence can be seen in his work. In a January 1971 article in Golden West Magazine titled. The Taming of Tex Moore. It talks about Tex meeting Charles Russell, and that it was Charles Russell who convinced him he needed to give up cattle drives and become an artist. Tex even used a longhorn monogram similar to Russell’s on his art. I just acquired several pieces of Tex Moore’s work, all art that was in his home in Wichita Falls at the time of his death. Most of the pieces have been stored under a bed for, in some cases, over 100 years. As he traveled throughout the west on cattle drives and as a scout, Tex painted everything from beautiful mountain scenes to river scenes, then breathtaking ocean scenes and then some of the most spectacular desert scenes imaginable.
