This vintage, Tibetan Thangka PRINT showcases Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Known for embodying the compassion of all Buddhas, Avalokiteshvara is revered in Tibetan Buddhism as the protector of all sentient beings. This old Thangka was painted and collected from local Buddhist lamas and is framed with a narrow cotton border; however, the border itself is not vintage. A Narrow Border Thangka is a traditional Tibetan Thangka painting framed with a simple and thin fabric border, unlike the more elaborate and expansive brocade commonly seen. Unlike the more intricate and expansive brocade, it is framed with a simple, thin fabric border. The narrow border style highlights the central artwork. The minimalist framing technique highlights the beauty and spiritual importance of the Thangka while preserving the traditional Tibetan art form’s cultural essence. This type of Thangka is perfect for collectors or practitioners who prefer a more subtle display of their spiritual art. Depicted with multiple arms symbolizing his boundless compassion and ability to assist all beings, Avalokiteshvara radiates peace and kindness.
