18×24 original 1990 W. A. Slaughter oil painting on canvas Hill Country Haven
Here’s an another incredible 18×24 original oil painting on canvas by famous Texas listed artist: W. Slaughter of his famous “Hill Country Haven” of his famous detailed bluebonnets with cactus and a watering holepond… Also, I see some signs of Indian brush fuchsia red flowers in this incredible magnificent landscape; A true one of kind hand painted masterpiece.. Slaughter was active/lived in California. William Slaughter is known for Texas landscape, floral view, figure. Slaughter was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1923 and died in Dallas, Texas December 2003. His first call was to the ministry and after serving in the Air Force during WWII, he was ordained as a Lutheran pastor. This calling took him first to Lubbock, Texas, Mexico, and finally Dallas. It was during this ministry in Mexico that Mr. Slaughter began seriously to hear another call. Slaughter began painting and exhibiting at local art and craft shows after moving to Dallas. Slaughter first belonged to and exhibited with the Artists and Craftsmen’s Association of Dallas. In 1968, he was awarded first in landscape painting. In 1973, he was awarded first in still life painting. He was mostly self taught and combined innate ability and persistence to create many Texas landscapes, seemingly everyone’s favorite subject, in realist style. He also did figure paintings, still life, wild life and ethnic women and children. 18×24 original W. A. Slaughter oil painting on canvas Hill Country Haven
This is an Original Slaughter and is in Excellent condition. From NanEtte Richardson fine art. The serene landscape and rolling hills near his home in San Antonio were early sources of inspiration for his developing artistic ability. His love of nature manifested itself in other ways, as well; in 1952, after eight years of intense training, Slaughter was ordained a Lutheran minister. A unique fusion of minister and artist, he served a wide variety of congregations during his career from Lubbock, Texas to Mexico City. However, painting was always beckoning. Upon his return from Mexico, Slaughter began to exhibit his work with the Artists and Craftsmen Association of Dallas. In 1972, Slaughter dedicated himself entirely to painting. Of this decision he has remarked, I never really left the ministry. I now relate to people through my paintings rather than my words. There are sermons in trees, and in the seas, and the faces of people from many nations which cannot be forgotten. Color vibrates from each canvas sky blue, oak green, Indian paintbrush red. Distant hills go on forever. Sunlight is warm and bright, and shade is cool and inviting. The item “18×24 original W. A.
