From the collection of M. The 4th picture is a screenshot of another painting auctioned, which had the same method of labeling by the collector. 15″x20″ [38x51cm] painting. Framed as pictured with ornate gilt wood frame and velvet liner. He fought in the PolishLithuanian Commonwealth’s struggles against Russia and Prussia, and on the American side in the American Revolutionary War. As Supreme Commander of the Polish National Armed Forces, he led the 1794 Kociuszko Uprising. In 1776, Kociuszko moved to North America, where he took part in the American Revolutionary War as a colonel in the Continental Army. An accomplished military architect, he designed and oversaw the construction of state-of-the-art fortifications, including those at West Point, New York. In 1783, in recognition of his services, the Continental Congress promoted him to brigadier general. A close friend of Thomas Jefferson’s, with whom he shared ideals of human rights, Kociuszko wrote a will in 1798 dedicating his American assets to the education and freedom of U. Here’s a gorgeous 16×20 original oil painting on canvas by famous Texas listed artist: W. Slaughter circa 1890 of titled “Hill Country House” A true authentic and original hand painted one of kind masterpiece…. Has a fuchsia bush next to right of the Oak tree and some Indian brush fuchsia grass in the middle of the bluebonnet landscape.. Slaughter was active/lived in California. William Slaughter is known for Texas landscape, floral view, figure. Slaughter was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1923 and died in Dallas, Texas December 2003. His first call was to the ministry and after serving in the Air Force during WWII, he was ordained as a Lutheran pastor. This calling took him first to Lubbock, Texas, Mexico, and finally Dallas. It was during this ministry in Mexico that Mr. Slaughter began seriously to hear another call. Slaughter began painting and exhibiting at local art and craft shows after moving to Dallas. Slaughter first belonged to and exhibited with the Artists and Craftsmen’s Association of Dallas. In 1968, he was awarded first in landscape painting. In 1973, he was awarded first in still life painting. He was mostly self taught and combined innate ability and persistence to create many Texas landscapes, seemingly everyone’s favorite subject, in realist style. He also did figure paintings, still life, wild life and ethnic women and children.
