Tex lived a very interesting life as a true cowboy of over 40 years, a Texas Ranger and an artist that was declared by the Texas Legislature under HCR No. 48 to be the Official Cowboy Artist of Texas back in April of 1935. He was self-taught, but always admired the art of Thomas Moran, and Moran’s influence can be seen in his work. In a January 1971 article in Golden West Magazine titled. The Taming of Tex Moore.
