Hasidic Playing the Flute by Boris Shapiro. Boris Shapiro was born in 1968 in Ukraine. He completed his studies in 1985 at the Luvov Fine Art School where he specialized in antique restoration. Upon his release from the army in 1987 he began working in his field, which greatly influenced the progress of his career. Following his immigration to Israel in 1991, he enrolled in the Graphic Department of the Visual Arts College in Beer Sheva. After experimenting with different media and style, Boris began developing his artistic persona based upon the 16th-17th century Small Dutch School of the likes of Pieter Bruegel. Having come from the non-humorous, non-individualistic, former Soviet Union, Boris expresses the humor, irony, and simplicity of life. His portraits are whimsical; the colors are usually earth tones, symbolizing the natural colors and events of everyday life. 55 x 55 cm. 21.65 x 21.65 in. [CPA-MD]One of the most exciting Filipino artists today, Critics acclaim his landscapes, still lifes, flowers and portraits for their bewtithcing presence, In Barcelona, he found his true center, discovering the art of Tapies and Cuixart, the Catalans art rebels, and coming unconsciously under their influence. Soon he was veering from landscapes to non-figurative painting. He began to paint a submarine world of nightmare. Cezanne may be the first painter to try to bring the 4th dimension nto painting, and for want of a better name. His critics referred to his works as cubistic. Zobel’s latest works are one-dimensional because he has allowed his intellect to rule over his sense of color, his feelings. He has rationalized his art. Joya’s paintings are two-dimensional. One gets the feeling he tried to get out of his artistic impasses by making his brushstrokes heavier. Alcuaz, in his work, is creating a new language, a NEW dimension. He is one of the genuine artists of our generation, yet he is just 35 years old (while) Picasso took more than half a century to develop his full potential..
