19 century Italian Antique original Oil Painting on canvas, portrait of a boy
Up for sale is an antique 19-century oil painting on canvas laid on board depicting a genre scene – an Italian boy carrying wine jugs. The painting is presented in a period ornate gold frame. The frame is in good condition. The painting has some dirty areas and scuffs. Please see the photos, they are part of the description. The reverse of the canvas depicts the antique framing clasps known as Shattuck (dated February 1883 – June 1885), invented in 1883 by Aaron Draper Shattuck, a 19th-century painter living in the northeast. The nameplate in the middle front “Safe in Harbour” Walther Dean. Condition: Stable craquelure due to age. One overpainted small area in the sky. Presented in a gorges Antique ornate gold frame.
